Looking at the brands you are and budget, i say you are mad to move away from the Bilsteins...std they are decent enough things, and if you talk to the right people then there are plenty of room for improvement. If not for Racepace and their ability to do good things with certains models of Teins i would have definiteyl kept my Bilsteins as places like Heasmans, Quadrant, Tru Track, Centreline, East Coast supension are all pretty reputable workshops who when you speak to about shocks with a 2-3k budget will most likely recommend Bilsteins for your Skyline

Talk to heasmans.

You already have a very good base shock, a revalve to suit a higher spring rate is reasonably cheap, as are the higher rate springs. You already have the height adjustment via circlip, about all you'll be missing out on is a rose jointed top mount and base height adjustment.

A move to monoflex is really just a step sideways with a higher price tag. I do think they are a nice bit of kit though.

some good reading in this thread

was actually thinking of going tein super streets in my r33

now after reading this i think it would be a good idea to keep my current ohlins and get the front pair rebuilt.

as far as i can tell my ohlins are better gear they are just older and need a bit of care.

front left shock is hitting the bump stops or something making a thudding noise when going over bumps, and the adjustment screws on the top are missing so i cant adjust damper

is this something a rebuild would fix? how much are shock rebuilds usually?

Yes, its VERY good reading! :)

I have actually spoken to Jonathon from Bilstien and he has offered quite alot of help and info - very much appreciated!!!

In the new year, I'll be taking the car to them
