I was caught making unnecessary noise and smoke from a set of traffic lights in Nerang. The infringment notice has an error on it.In the body type section, the officer wrote sedan instead of coupe. Does this make the ticket invallid, or should I just pay the fine?

you should write him up a ticket for not being able to tell the difference

id just pay it dude

what else can you do? take it to court? and use "my car isnt a sedan" as an excuse for your infringement?! then court cases just for that?

just be done with it and dont do it again.....

I've read somewhere that that sort of thing would make a ticket invalid if there was more than three errors

If you notify them they will confirm other details with the officer that issued the ticket and correct the ticket and issue another infringement.

I'd suggest paying it , unless of course there is more than 1 error that is quite substantial the officer in this case doesnt know his cars and will simply tell the road authority that he thought it was a sedan of sorts and have his screw up fixed up :D

same thing used to go with birth dates and names if u are asked for your name dob etc and u tell them incorrectly they'll get you for giving false information however if the police officer makes the mistake and misreads misinterprets or guesses something they can turn around and fix it up later on :D wierd how that works huh

ummm...check your rego and what it classes you car as. Sometimes they class them as a coupes only if the back window lifts up with the boot.

then again it could just be a massive mistake...put it this way i drive a sedan and its registered as a coupe...dont know how that happened.

i had a similar incident. got a parking ticket for parking in a bus stop for 10mins. under Car Description, he wrote grey nissan coupe. MY car is dead set BLUE with a PURPLE shade (not remotely close to any sort of a grey) lol. i was going to take it to court and argue technicality, and also attack the ability and reliablity of a person to issue fines, when he cannot differentiate between blue and grey lol. BUTTTTT i had exams and didnt have the time to pursue it, so i just paid it :D

^^^ A lot of people have that degree of colour blindness.

I once got booked at Wentworth Falls doing 60Km/Hr in a 50Km zone, but Mr Plod wrote out the ticket with the Number Plate of the car in front of me (and not mine).

I took it to court, just wondering if I could get off on a technicality. But alas, the magistrate determined that because I was the driver of the car that was speeding, I still had to pay and lose pts.

I must admit too that I represented myself; which means that I had a fool for a client!!!

He could have written "helicopter" in the vehicle panel and it wont make any difference.

In court technical details do matter, but it can't be something tiny that will get you off on a "technicality".

it is a sedan mate. but sure take it to court. it will be awesome fun when you try to explain it to them. video and youtube it.

and even if he wrote sudan under body type it wouldn't matter. in no way does it have any impact on the validity of the ticket.

Take it to court and they will thank you for pointing out the error. They will then correct the error and charge you a court fee and probably an increased fine for wasting their time..

    • Sadly I can confirm if you are actually seeking to drift, you will quite easily spin up one wheel. Even if you're going in a straight line. I am not entirely sure of the metrics/terminology here but there's only a certain amount that the helical will actually spin both wheels. I've seen it on video with my own car where two lines of smoke switch over to just one after you really get in to it. Unlike with a clutch diff where you can keep your foot planted until the car regains grip, in my experience with the helical you want to be utilizing traction control allowing LIMITED slip or lifting (partially) when you start to spin up both tyres with a Nissan helical. Which makes them pretty sub optimal for drifting duty. That said... this is probably a helical on numbers alone. Just put the Kazz in
    • Let's just fix the problem by f**king the rest of the gearbox.
    • Unlikely, as per Greg's post. This is not helical diff behaviour unless one wheel is up off the ground. Shimming what? You don't "shim" a mechanical LSD. Probably not in the sense that you have heard of people "shimming" a diff. And the process that Nissan f**kwits call "shimming" a diff involves super-preloading a VLSD cartridge against the side of the diff to create a friction/wear point (in a place that it wasn't supposed to have one) to make the sloppy, useless, viscous diff into a hybrid viscous/mech abortion. In case it isn't clear, I consider the process to be stupid. Nike.
    • How much does the shifter move when the car is in gear with the engine off? If it is more than about 1cm you need to replace your shifter bush. Your shifts will just get crunchier, not faster, with a short shifter unless you also rebuild the whole box
    • I should video mine, will prob do it tomorrow    Between 1st and 3rd, you could fit another two gears. That is how loose and wobbly it is   horrible:(
