i just finsihed my pod filter install on the RS260.

Picked up 2x dual entry metal cap DRiFT pod filters from Autobarn, and some adapters and mounting straps. Got a 90'Deg bend and a few bits and pieces and its all in looking awesome.

I ran a cold air feed with some flexi duct up from behind left hand indicator, up around the washer bottle, between the guard and the panel, and it feeds cold air directly onto the pods. Will post up pics when i remember. All up, cost me $186 for all materials, and took me about 2 hours to do.

I used to have a mad CAI setup on my NA soobie which was setup for 104kw/wheels

Well its done.

I went with an Apexi Pod that bolted direct to the AFM- NO adaptors, No mucking around. a gasket and 4 Bolts DONE.

Then went to Bunnings to purchase some tinted perspex and ClarkRubber for some rubber edge and some 65mm black flexipipe.

Bent up a heat sheild and chucked it over the pod. Also moved some of the contents in my Engine bay :) under it.

Ran the flexi pipe from front bar into engine bay via the unused stock intercoller pipe, puts air straigh onto pod, streched an old stocking over the end in the bay aswell as a pre filter.

When their is no direct focused light on it (aka camera flash) its pretty dark under it.

Cheers Jesse,

Pod was 85 i think or very close to it posted from JDM tune- a Ebay store.

after purchase i found out acording to a mate the Drift branded pods from autobahn, flow and filter very well and would be half the cost I think!

hey mate nice work with that heat shield and cold air induction, whats that stuff you used? tinted perspex aye? from bunnings you reckon? i might have a crack at the heat shield, but the induction might have to wait until i get rid of my SMIC and get a FMIC, still a heat shield is better than no shield, (although i do have my stock Cold air scoop blowing cool air straight onto the pod)

I did originally take the pod off and put the stock box back on, but then i did that $5 intake pipe mod (see how to's and FYI and DIY) and i could only just fit my pod in the engine bay, so no way would my stock box go back on, thinking of getting one of those apexi pods tho, they are a bit shorter in length so it might fit easier.

Once again top job mate!

yeah the tinted perspex is from bunnings.

Mmmmm with stock intercooler you'd just need to be more creative with where you source the air from and how you get it into the bay ;)

Ive been thinking of doing the intake pipe mod for a while but never actually have.... Notice any difference? More induction noise im guessing? (mine doesnt need any more.... sounds like a jumbo jet as it is!)

hrmm yeh, but i still really want to get a FMIC soon... so not much point in doing it that way i guess, and yeh i can tell there is a bit more go after doing that intake pipe mod. i didnt actually do what the DIY said to do. i just cut the hose while it was still attached (couldnt work out how i'd get to the hose clamp near the turbo so yeh just sorta winged it and forced it into rubber pipe)

But yeh man i would do it hey, it seems to be a lot more responsive now (probably that and the fact i did a service on it straight after aswell :) )

Cheers Jesse,

I spent $180 in Autobarn, and got 2 high-flowing DRiFT filters, adapter plates, clamps, and mounting brackets

put them all on in an hour, using a 90 degree bend of black alloy.

tried to take a photo on my phone, but didn't work too well in the dark

will upload photo tomorrow night

Decided to put my POD filter on this weekend and make myself up a bracket and heat shield. its made from 1.6mm 316 stainless, i used reinforced rubber edging around the edges. i made it in two piece as it was easier to fold up and work with that way. i also used the factory CAI snorkle. the top of the shield meets up flush (or close enough) to the bonnet. i used the factory airbox mounting holes for mounts for the shield and bracket.

here is the finish product, i think it turned out fairly good.

Pod + Hot Air = Worthless

Pod + Cold Air Boxed = Magic!!!! :D

Spent the whole day working on it. Boxed up the pod and got a 3inch flex pipe from the front guard into the stock intercooler hole.

The difference amazing.Ill try post some pics up soon. Btw its on a 34, but i guess you could use the same concept.

I couldn't believe the difference. :(

i'm using a return flow cooler so there is no free hole for me to run an air intake through. got this whizz bang 3 inch flexi pipe with bell mouths on either end that i got off flea bay but can't for the life of me find a way to run it through. anyone found a way???

    • I havent bought a manual cover for the dash yet and no cluster change, won't bother me too much, I just need to get that auto box gone, manual in! I miss my manual. 🤪. We started last weekend and managed to get the box out. Planning to start putting it in this weekend and then order a single piece tail. We were super careful to take time and not damage anything. It's my first time working under the car.  With my S15 mainly worked in the bay. This time, it was a headache because of three or four bolts only. They simply didnt want to leave thei homr and the one securing the tailshaft, another above the GB, and the one securing the lipstick was a shit. Mates mate, Davo caught fire 🤣, nearly opened his chest up with a grinder 🤦🏽‍♂️ and both mates nearly had a plate from the box land and slit their head open. Fun times. We all survived. Not the easiest working with limited access on jackstands. As I'm sure we can agree these are the memories which make us love our car. For all three of us, was an awesome weekend and Sunday 3.30am before tools down was a fantastic effort. I need to upload pics, but looks like it needs to be via Url now. We used to be able to just upload pics back in the day. It's been that long! 🤪 Im currently spraying rustoleum under body, not because it's rusted. It's super clean, but just so it's protected for the next 10 years. There was a few surface rust spots. Which pretty much wiped off with a 3M scourer.  Really impressed with how well the previous owner maintained it. Bank account went down so quick! Service, then GB - managed to get a spanking new 34 genuine box from Nissan. All the rest of the conversion parts from Kudos.  Went with a Nismo short shifter. New pedals and Exedy Clutch and FW. Ordered the Prp Rear Main Retainer kit which should arrive Friday and my first engine mod part just like I did with my S15 will be the Tomei Expreme Turbo Outlet. Already on order. It'll likely sleep next to me on a pillow during the coming months. 🥰 Last build was on my JET200GT profile and on SAU and Hardtuned I had documented the build. Planning to try to do that again. Brands feel scarce now. Wish we still had ARC and Apexi parts readily available. Exhaust - need some advice on this. I had an Apexi exhaust on the S15 and loved the tone. My mate had a HKS HP Silent on his 33 and suggested I go with that to avoid drone. I can't remember hearing an RB25DET running that so will likely need to wait for a meet or something to hear it.  Not after big power, just enjoy building it, and drivability with minimal negative attention.
    • Have a chat with Ben at Moore Performance or Jesse at JS Performance.
    • Thanks both. All good advice. Reminds me of drilling through stone wall for drainage pipe 😬 I'll let you know how I get on if I still have use of my hands afterwards 😅
    • Finally got shipping number for the intake and throttle body, shipped by UPS, so "should" be in my hands sometime next week, fingers fracking crossed
    • I'm so far behind in the jobs I have to do at both work and home (including car) that I have become immortal. There's simply no way that I can die now.
