My mates saying a non turbo r34 is slower than a non turbo r33. because the r34 weighs more and the engines are same power wise. is this true?

also, is a s2000 fast?

Also, is manual faster than a automatic car?

also, is launching on your manual car bad for it?

also, my r33 smells like smoke sometimes, like fart smart.. what is it ? :S

That is all. thanks

Q# 2

A Honda S2000 is a great RWD car. But even great cars have their faults. AP1 version came out in 1999.

You need to keep it up in the high rev range to maintain a spirited acceleration. Power outputs differed from US to EU to JP ie 237 bhp (177Kw) to 247 bhp (184Kw)

Cornering is good too! The AP2 version of 2004 had a retuned susp'n.

Hope this helps!

Yawn! Getting tired now...

Quit hogging all the good questions, Terry!

I'll take care of number 1 since you're tired....

According to the most recent scientific analysis, an R34 non-turbo driving at 45 km/h will be 10% slower than an R33 at 50 km/h, however, this all depends on the distance of the pedal to the floor panel. If you ever want to drag-race an R33 non-turbo while driving an R34 non-turbo, make sure you ask for at least a 1 second handicap, it's only fair.

Hope this helps,

I think the R33 N/A has about 5kW more than the R34 N/A, just from reading the Department of Transport and Regional Services Register of Specialist and Enthusiast Vehicals - http://rvcs-prodweb.dot.gov.au/sevs/030-00.htm

also, is a s2000 fast?

For a 2lt Inline 4 N/A their pretty fast with 179kW IMO but no faster that a turbo Skyline, but depends who you talk to LOL!

Also, is manual faster than a automatic car?

Beauty of a manual is that you can change gear when you want, same goes for Tiptronic Auto gearboxes. You could say Autos are faster at changing gears but I and some Beg to differ... Hehe!!

also, is launching on your manual car bad for it?

I would say so, even when done correctly or with twin, triple and quad plates you will get wear and tear.

also, my r33 smells like smoke sometimes, like fart smart.. what is it ? :S

You farted Haha!!

Could be just abit of burnt oil blowing out your exhaust, Skylines don't exactly have the nices smelling enignes

That is all. thanks

Cool!

Id guess with the neo engine, the r34 should have more power; not much. regardless, NA skylines are slooooow, i put down a total of 78awkw in a gts-4 automatic.......beaten by a prelude in a drag.

s2000 is slow compared to a GTR, someones gonna flame me here but its probably because im used to turbo. I had a test drive and the gearboxes r fantastic; very smooth and sounds good but dosent really go anywhere.

the new model s2000 which we dont get here in Aus has an upgraded 2.2litre engine for more torque. Ive seen a few run 13's with nitrous and they are great on the track.

Dont have an answer for auto and manual cos technically only the fastest drag cars will use an auto and track is no different (SLR AMG uses automatic and so does the CLK black)

Launching a car hard will hurt something; every action there is a reaction! so either the clutch will burn or the tyres + HD clutch will send shock through either the gearbox, driveshaft or diff.

Only as strong as your weakest link.

The fart smell is probably a combination of fuel and the catalytic converter; petrol is a fossil fuel and will contain sulfur which when burned up in the cat can produce that smell of rotton eggs or fart.

Also cane a new car and it will smell for the first 5-12,000kms of its life; dont know y but either a new cat contains sulfur or the lack of flow in a new cat causes richening of the injectors and leads to explanation 1 ^^

e.g. my BMW, my mums landrover and any rental car i get ahold of.

I just love the S2000!

It's a remarkable car for its engine size and no turbo; but...

as John says, it isn't quite up to a Turbo Nissan when you consider that a) most are modified or begging to be; and b) the specs of its power output were understated.

    • It is possibly 55 degrees for the Nismo version. I had a look through the manual and the stocker has a breakaway torque of 2.5 to 3.5kgm. Supposedly the Nismo LSD goes down to 5kgm when worn in but it is pretty grabby even with very little throttle. Worse when cold. So I guess you have three things. 1. Shims. 2 Friction plates 3. Cams Would think shims would be the easiest but Ive no clue how many tenths of a mm shim thickness change equals how many kgm torque. Also not sure if the Nismo friction plates are similar/different to stock or if they are the most of the source of the diff being angry. Think I can write off the Nismo rebuild kit for the standard diff as not being what I want.
    • Yeah, it was a bit of confusion with me, I rang and asked if they had a boot for a soft top, and then the paint shop when they rang and were asked if it had a hard top on it, which it does, just not a PRHT....LOL Meh, whilst frustrating for all concerned it isn't a war stopper and should be a thing of the past in a week or two In other N/A related news, car is booked in at the end of the month for the cams, springs, retainers, harmonic balancer and retune  I might even pull the lazy arse card and get them to do a full service on it whilst it is there
    • Factory LSD is supposedly a 2 way with a very conservative cam. If you've already tried adding friction modifier to the diff oil and it still locks up too much for your liking you might want to adjust the ramp rate on the cam to be more like OEM instead of reducing initial torque even further. People claim the 8 kgf-m disc kit for the OEM LSD is still very streetable but I've never been able to compare everything side by side on my own.
    • Oh man, at least it sounds they've accepted they stuffed up and not put it back on you...could see some confusion if they asked if it had a hardtop or not, and you've answered truthfully but maybe not answering their real question which is what roof did it have from the factory! Glad your keeping it N/A 2.5
    • Nah, I much prefer colour matched Talking about colour matching stuff, the new/used boot lid turned up, all painted up perfectly......aaaannnndddd, it's for a power retractable hard top, not a soft top.....LOL They are now sending a boot to fit a soft top.....,  whilst frustrating, life is like that sometimes, sometimes you just need to dodge, duck, dip, dive and, ummm, dodge.
