SkyHi_33
Hi guys, Im looking at maybe getting a set of coilovers soon and don't have $3k to fork out on a really good set new, so I've been looking around the second had market for a while but am not really sure what to look for when trying to find a decent set. So what are signs of abuse (apart from oil everywhere) and how long do coilovers usually last without rebuilds etc? Im talking about good brands here, not cheap stuff. Also, instead of starting a new thread, I know that a good shock/spring setup is a lot better for street so is there anyone out there that has found a good match between the two for very good handling and feel on the street? Im unsure if I should get a new set of shocks/springs or second hand coilovers. __PhaseShiftDown
It is a bit of a hit and miss really. Check for oil obviously, but that can be easily cleaned up. Check for the condition of the spring, dust boot, rust on the strut top, paint chips, and just a general feel on how old they are. Also check the model, as some of the older model are now dis-continued. Ask the seller if it comes with some sort of warrenty and such.....etc I bought a set of 2nd hand nismo shocks for 600bux + shipping and they are great so far (4 months).
