I did a search for similar topics.. but nothing that matched my topic.

Ok guys, this is what has happened. It was super hot day the other day, i noticed my oil pressure gauge drop as though i had no oil pressure. so i pulled over and the tappets where ticking etc as though there was no oil. The engine seemed super hot. Checked the oil, the gauge said there was plenty of oil, and when i held the throttle on the oil pressure picked up to 40psi.. then drop off when i stopped at the lights. so i switched the car off at all the lights and the car got me home.

The next morning, the oil level was full, but.. i had no radiator fluid.. there was a hole in the bottom.. and the water was flowing out as quick as i was pouring it in. so.. that explains the super hot engine.

Now.. the oil was pissing out of the rocker cover.. causing lots of smoke out of the engine bay, so i bought a new kit and replaced it. i did notice that i was undoing the screw down bolts with my fingers.. so that explains the oil pissing out over the exhaust, and i'm hoping the dropping oil pressure. When i started the car in the morning.. cold.. the oil pressure held at 40psi with no sign's of dropping, though i think it need's to be 60psi at cold idle.

So.. i just did a compression check the engine cold.. and i got

1... 160psi

2... 160psi

3... 145psi

4... 130psi

5... 150psi

6... 150psi

I don't believe the head gasket has gone.. but it does seem the piston rings on the 3rd and 4th cylinder's are on their merry way.

Q1, with the rocker cover gasket's no being secured down and not sealing correctly.. will that drop the oil pressure?

Q2, will it hurt my engine with such a compression variation?

Q3, is their another method of checking for a blown head gasket? remember there is no water in the cooling system.. i need to get a new radiator.

    • I would be lying if I said I wasn't interested in what MCM were going to do with the NC I really enjoy their banter and occasional collaborations (like Alan from TSF, Ben from BCW, or any of the Haltech guys throwing around their experience), and I have probably watched everything they have put out
    • Not yet, we basically drove it to a private road, got the logs and drove it straight back. I think I need a new passenger seat belt after the mrs squeezed the life out of it.
    • Sounds insane! 🤤🤤🤤  Do you have any vids of it driving?  A flyby would be nice!
    • The prices of NCs are going to go up thanks to you... and partially the MCM guys.
