i have an r32 gtr and sometimes when i start the car the 4wd light goes out then comes on in 10 sec and stays in rwd mode. i find that it will do it more when the car is warmed up and not from when i start it cold. ushally turning the car off and starting it again fixes the problem.

i have checked the computer and it reads error code 18 which is ETS pressure switch or curcut.

from reading the service manual, i have come to believe that before the car is started the attessa pump primes, then shortly after the car starts either the pressure drops or switch closes to soon and gives an error.

i am in the process of checking all the lines to make sure the clamps are done up between the pump and the resivior.

One thing i have noticed in the service manual is the resivior must have an air pocket of no greater than 5mm but mine does?

mine is more like this picture below, about 10mm but the top fluid level is sitting right on the max line. How do i remove air from this resivior????

i am also going to perform a bleed and clean up the hydroluc unit terminal plugs on the pump under the rear diff to see if that helps. Any other sugestions?

I am having exactly the same problem. So, have you ever fingered it out?

Thanks!

hmm. My bubble is about 2 or 3mm but the fluid basically looks black. I take it thats not good? I will look at the gtr manual a bit more, but not sure how much of it applies to the GTS-4 AWD system. Also getting the 18 ecu error code. which is the ets pressure switch of course.

    • Last year I got a set of MCA street coilovers for my turbo Forester after my son hitting a concrete gutter/wall on a small bridge causing the whole drivers side suspension to get bent because the rain just made the car slide out I love them, I think they were $2400. even had a hiccup of have the wrong hub configuration (my fault) so got onto MCA and they sent the correct shock ends overnight parts from QLD, for free!  I was very impressed with their customer service and quality of the product
    • They've had some weird failures on their brake actuators. One of them was because they added some kind of lubricant to the factory fill brake fluid that aftermarket brake fluid didn't have so it would affect the seals. Another was just mysterious, probably internal corrosion or something eating away at Prius brake actuators. Parts alone for those are a few thousand USD so not a cheap fix.

    • KYBs are typically twin tube, putting them in the lower tier of desireability. Do you just want to replace worn out ones for the lowest cost? I mean, you wouldn't just replace one end of a car, if the rears are a similar age to the fronts, then they are probably nowhere near what they should be, and likely won't be great against brand new fronts. So, to spend ~$800 on 2nd tier dampers, when you could get a decent set of MCA coilovers for <$4k.....? As to the strut tops. 1st up, the Sparesbox site specifically tells you that they are not correct for an R33. Beyond that, why do you think you need them?
