i didnt buy mine to be economical either, an i also don't give a shit with the 20litres per 100km i get with the td06 and my measly 300hp,i deal with this fact. i just dont see why others cant with their vehicles

This arguement is funny, i bet you's all complained BUT STILL bought fuel when it was over $1.60 a litre, now that its around $1 a litre some of you's are still whinging. wats gona happen when the prices rise again you's are just gona waste more time complaining. Yes mum Yes we know we buy it because we have to, and yes we will continue to do that, but it won't stop people having opinions & sometimes with good reason. So if you want people to shut up & deal with it or start riding a bike around maybe you shouldn't read discussion forums??

But here in WA it doesn't help we don't have the competition of 4 98octane fuels. Don't know about other people but I only question it because at the same time, BP stations are generally always about 10c a litre more than the rest, including those next door to other servos. And it's usually only BP that without explanation or a decent reason put their prices up by 10c/20c the next day. Like yesterday the BP near my house was 102.9, today 119.9. Last time I checked the financial world was still f**ked up & not getting any better, and the price of oil was still very low but I'd guess they will say there is demand in China for fuel so that's why it went up.

But then again it's not just them, they are all pricks for putting the price of petrol up asap when the price of oil goes up, but when it comes down you will see less than half of that drop come back down. That's a good reason prices today are where they are at:

99c per litre....oil goes up, 1.09 p/l...oil goes down....1.05 p/l....oil goes up, 1.13 p/l...oil goes down, 1.10 p/l...oil goes up, 1.22 p/l....etc etc That's why the price of petrol now is still considered normal, even though the price per barrel compared to pump prices from when it was 90c a litre to now is different by ~20c.

Fuel. Buy it.

I went to China last month with my dad for his business trip and we saw the fuel prices were around RMB$6.50 per litre! We were like how the hell do these people fuel their cars.. and even though the price of crude oil tumbled from almost $150 per barrel to $40.. the fuel prices still remained the same!

went back to malaysia last year and was horrified to see the petrol prices there. cost bout $2++ to refill even a small car. but yet again, there are lots of people out there who could still pay for it or dont really have a choice.

Yeah prices went up from $1.92 to $2.70... a 78c jump! Almost caused havoc in the country.. currently its been lowered to somewhere around $1.90 I think... was back there during dec...

FuelWatch indicates that at least 19 Caltex sites across Perth will raise prices by as much as 18 cents a litre today, the RAC says.

The rises follow a similar increase for some BP sites yesterday, which the RAC warned could lead to copycat rises from outlets for other brands.

Yesterday RAC head of member advocacy Matt Brown said motorists should fight petrol retailers' cynical tactics by boycotting high-priced Caltex and BP sites.

"The average price for petrol in Perth tomorrow is around $1.05 a litre," Mr Brown said.

“If you see a Caltex or BP station trying to charge you significantly more than that, simply keep driving past it.

“There is nothing in the international movement in the price of oil that could possibly justify an increase of this magnitude.

“The move by certain Caltex and BP sites to jump their prices by such a big margin confirms our suspicion that there is a move on to drag the market price of petrol up in the days leading up to the Australia Day long weekend.

“This could mean that other retailers will be watching on and just waiting to raise their own prices, perhaps not by as much as 18 cents a litre but certainly higher than the current average price.

“It’s a pretty cynical move aimed at hitting motorists in the lead-up to a holiday break.”

Glad I made the switch to Peak 98. I filled up tonight and passed a BP station just down the road and it was 18 cents more expensive. I'd like to hear their justification for that!

Hi, Not all BP stations are "doing the dodgey" when they have "Out of order" covers on the pumps. On Wednesday evening, I went into the BP station on the corner of Harbourne and Cambridge in Wembley. The Ultimate 98 pumps were all covered. I went in and asked what the story was. The guy told me they had run out and were getting more in at 10 O'clock the next morning.

I made a mental note of the unleaded price (104.2) and left.

I went back Thursday evening. Ultimate 98 available, so I filled up. I also checked the unleaded price - and, lo, it was still 104.2. So they were not claiming they had run out just so they could jack the price the next day. The price did not move. They had just run out!

I am quite sure that some of the pricing practices by fuel stations are dodgey. There may even be occasions when groups of stations act as a cartel and, thus, illegally. However, the international crude and refined product prices that influence the price we pay at the bowser are very volatile. The costs that the refineries and fuel retailers have are perhaps less so, but are still subject to change. Changes in the price they charge at the bowser will inevitably lag behind changes in crude oil prices. Changes in exchange rates also influence a complex picture. So it is not a simple relationship.

The fuel retailers always seem quick to put the price up and less quick to move it down, I grant you. But don't condemn every BP station because you suspect one or two you visit may be manipulating things. Don't hail another retailer because a station you visit is able to serve you at a lower price on that occasion. It may just be that they have run out. It may just be that to turn a profit they are obliged to raise their prices.

By all means make this a fuel watch thread. But when you have limited information and do not fully understand the factors that affect fuel pricing in WA or the pricing policies of various retailers, condemning one retailer over another is pointless. You are free to believe what you like, but you should not knock anyone without being sure of your facts. Unless you want to join the ranks of keyboard warriors and radio call-back punters who offer nothing other than prejudice, misunderstandings and half-truths, safe in the knowledge of no come-back on them and content with their short time in the sun.

Bah humbug.

P.S. And don't tell me that the West knows any better! Quite clearly, they don't.

why is it coincidentally always bp that runs out of fuel...no other station has this problem nearly as often. I mean when you have half a tank left..start calling up the refinery to send another truck out..its not so hard yea?

actually its not only BP. when i had to refill some of the loan cars at work, i noticed shell especially the one near wanneroo rd had problems with pumps not in use as well both unleaded and premium unleaded and that happened for months already.
