Is it legal or illegal to have the writing "Skyline" on the boot with a coloured light setup. eg. blue

I'm pretty sure its illegal to have it in blue, i think some other colours are ok. I'm going to have mine light up blue anyway and when i get caught i'll change it to red.

what about red and having it only light up when you use brakes

I reckon another red light on the back would be fine as far cops as concerned...

I plan on doing the same except having it always lit up, in red as well....

few things:

The only legal colours are the standard green (low brightness) and red. It is advisable that you do not make it flash on with the brakes as the lettering can be considered a distraction. If you do want that, have it on all the time with the lights, and a second circuit to make it brighter with the brakes.

You can have white if you are reversing. You can never have blue.

mine is no longer a brake light, just a light.
