Is that one of the single-din pc setups?

I didn't want to go so small (mine is about the same size as my amp) as it wanted it to be semi-upgradable and have room for a capture card.. eventually I'd like to have some good quality cameras throughout the car :P

  • 2 weeks later...

i see the anti-lag and rotary idle had them either running for cover or scratching their heads at Summernats.

nice comment about it being all over the Power FC too.

we should have the engine monitor up and running soon for you to try with it also.

I worked out how to setup Group N Anti-Lag and Cycle idle at Summernats, gave it a good work out, here is a video of my car spooling up 20psi of boost with the clutch in then dropping it (just a little burnout i was not keen to get kicked out)

Watch old mate to the left, he copped the extream anti-lag pressure from the side pipe and was jumping outta the way

Uploading more atm

bloody yobbo's.

ahh paul you'd love it

haha not really...only good thing about summernats are the pavillions + dyno.

glt toy....how much traction loss when launching anti lag etc???? is it very driveablewith the features + are they easy to turn off (rotary control, anti lag etc)

Cycle idle is NOT anti lag, its for cooling when the car is on anti lag rundown, so when your not on anti lag the extra air and no spark in the cyl cools it down heaps, i noticed when idleing around with cycle idle the engine would not go to operating temp on a very hot day.. which is weird...

You can turn anti lag off with a digital input switch (but cycle idle stays on), and when my car is on 24psi with anti lag there is no such thing as traction what so ever. Its just a big show off thing i wreckon :( but its fun and grabs attention

its also kinda hard to drive the car with cycle idle.. its mainly for WOT driving so i will have it on again for power cruise.

Id be interested to see whether anyone has bothered to run the boost controller that comes with these computers. The guy whos retuning my car was part of the development team of these new ecu's and said they are incredibly good.

Wouldnt mind hearing some other opinions as naturally he is a tad bias!

Cheers

will let you know.. will be trying a stock r33 solinoid and the boost controll in the next couple of weeks.. hmmm i should do it tomorrow but i am lazy.

I'm using the boost control feature. I've got a Mac solenoid in place of the stock one. I have wired the ECU up to an external switch (factory fog light switch) for high/low boost :) The boost control seems to work fine. It's open loop though, which means it takes a little longer to tune on the dyno. It also has overboost protection.

There is a closed loop boost control feature coming soon I believe. I'm looking forward to that one.

this is prolly going to get laffed at, but since the vipec is just a board that you put in ur standard ecu is there a way to put it in your PFC and thats a way of possibly retaining the hand controller without having to go laptop..

No not possible at all.. however in a few weeks there will be a Vipec Dash available which will run rings around the Crappy padel power fc hand controller and have programable shift lights and all kinds of stuff available.

I will do a review on the Dash just before its about to be released.

Sounds great. I have an overboost problem at present and wouldnt mind checking out whether its teh boost controller thats causing the problems without buying an expensive new one. Solinoids are 100NZD (not sure about AUD) if you want a new one also.

Look forward to hearing how it goes mate.

    • Depends how low and tyre size. Should fit with natural camber, skinny tyres and rolled guards.
    • Hi guys, planning to get 18x9 +25 in fronts and 18x10 +25 in rears been reading the whole thread and cant really find anything   Anyone know if these will fit a r34 gtt with no scrubbing or guard work needed?
    • They usually get made by hand as part of any such swap.
    • Was planning on getting an R35 MAF and the adapter, should this be okay? Also any idea where I could get my hands on an intake pipe?
    • I mean yes, if you're starting from scratch on an unknown engine yes you don't need to be doing all kinds of math in the background but if you're doing relatively minor changes like AFM + injectors + boost up with some aftermarket turbos it takes quite a bit of math if you want to do something like maintain OEM fuel + timing tables but compressed and then a bit more load scale up top. I think I've spent too much time working on big engineering nightmares though so I'm a big fan of trying to constrain the scope of whatever work I'm doing as much as possible and trying to get it right before moving on. For example, a local owner just did the usual E85 + single turbo conversion to his R32 GTR and nearly burned his car to the ground doing some spirited driving up the local mountains. Turbine is unshielded and too close to the hood insulation. It's tough to balance "just get the project done" and "seemingly small details can cause massive setbacks I'm not willing to deal with".
