Andrew Scippione announced that...

NSW Police have to trim $28,000,000 off their budget for '09

Does this mean that as well as switching from 'phone calls out' to 'internet' that...

there'll be less fuel usage > less cruising/patrolling > greater restrictions on chasing > trimming defect flying squads like 'Taipan' ?

My suggestion is that...

Car Clubs only need to be more CREATIVE about where to meet up; like

a) Cemeteries (for great photos next to tombstones, gardens and the ultimate convoy look)

b) Modern Industrial Sites (for pics of cars reflected against the frequently cleaned glass panels)

c) Old industrial sites (for a grunge/rustic-look pic)

d) Old brickworks (as above)

e) Riverside spots

f) Bridges

g) Stagnant pond where you can park your car adjacent to it and snap a complete reflection of your wheels

KKs and MacDummy are so passe

but...

BTW... Take your loooow ramps with you! Creativity tip? Most people use loooow ramps under the front wheels to change oil.

Why not use loooooow ramps under both wheels on ONE side for a groooovy pic?

Sorry, I've :bunny::bunny::bunny: ED on too long. But since the Police stations have also been trimmed, one only needs to mark on a map where they are and meet up halfway between each pair = maths In other words, with those budget cuts above, you spread that taipan snake all over the place until it's chasing shadows and slithers away. My 2c. My 2c? Creativity can also mean that wherever you meet, you can set up a "Charity Photoshoot" where a $1 donation from each car goes to a nominated "Charity". Even tell Salvos or Exodus Foundation (for the homeless) to come a along with their donation box and collect = Credibility

But thats true, hopefully this will be a win for the Car Enthusiasts!

Secondly, less defects.. = less revenue..

Now they could turn around and say, we're not cutting anything anymore, so we're gonna' jack up the defect quota this year :banana:

Could work either way, but i really think the trimming is gonna' effect the amount of "manpower" available for useless traffic offences.

An SAU NSW V-P propositioning a registered pharmacist for some Codeine Phos without a prescription? Wow!

I haven't had as good an offer since receiving vows in front of the altar!

Tell you what Connie, a little birdie told me that my two pods are impregnated with the stuff.

Nup, it PAINS me to say that I cannot and will not dispense those analgesic tablets for you.

You might be suffering greatly after those final 2 tablets are finished and it PAINS me to watch animals suffer, but...

I have important work here, writing a submission to Chief Superintendant Andrew Scippione on how to trim $28M off his budget by

i) not wasting fuel sending Pairs of Plods to Maccas and KKs in the dead of night

ii) not lurking around in unmarked cars on traffic matters when they could be used for real crime

iii) not spending heaps of time looking under bonnets

iv) spending more time helping little old ladies cross the road

v) allocating more push-bikes for pursuit purposes

vi) bringing back Morris Cooper Ss from mothballs so that two overweight Plods can lose weight on daytime stake-outs in the summer sun

vii) cancelling all stress-leave so that greater Plod Presence is around to stake-out all St George ATMs and finally...

viii) fleet-purchasing Skylines from SAU to frighten EVOs and STIs off the streets. What a rabble they are !!!!

funniest thread I've read all night. I keep forgetting my loooooow ramps though, can I use the scissor jack for an emergency lift when my bro whips out his camera to photograph my ride? Once I went on myspace by accident and I heard it's all about the angles.

hehe... Yes that's right. Alfred Hitchcock was a master at it.

And in the film Dead Poet's Society, the English teacher played by Robin Williams got all the kids to stand up on their desks to see the whole world from a different angle.

If Mr Skippyonly could see things from a different angle, and also trim his budget, he could tow Facsimile Police Cars out onto straight stretches of highway, so that from a distance, they look like real ones. Even the fatigued driver suddenly wakes up & looks at his speedo. It's been done in some parts of Japan and it can save lives at low cost. :P

Dont worry. It has been suggested. Until some clown decided it would be smart for drive through the fake police car cutout as a joke. It was then considered too dangerous in case they tried it on a real car by accident.

      Reading your posts Josh, sometimes I feel like I've gone in a time machine back to the 90's when everyone was doe-eyed and figuring things out for the first time.  I've lost track of how many single turbo GTR's I've seen on track that haven't burnt down lol. Everything has been figured out a long time ago. These things are at the point now where its essentially turn-key to go single turbo.

      Among other things yes. Making sure to either use an oil pressure regulator or the right restrictor size for your oil pump/range of oil viscosities you intend to run, making sure you plumb the lines correctly, turbo should be placed such that it siphons properly even when the water pump isn't turning so you don't boil coolant in the turbo after shutdown, oil return should be low resistance and also preferably picking the one that is most likely to return to the pickup as opposed to some other irrelevant part of the pan. It's far from impossible to figure this out but I have seen people really, really struggle and if that's the case it's easier to just take the path of least resistance. To me, bolt-on twin turbos are a fixed cost whereas single turbo is almost unbounded.

      Latest round of updates on the car. I purchased and installed a SWS clutch slipper to help with 60ft times and got some second-hand good condition 275/40R17 Hoosier DR2 radials. Test and tune in November showed the tyres were an upgrade over my over 15 year old mickey Thompson's and I got a 1.8 second 60ft and pb et of 11.71 but even then, that run wasn't great due to rain and driver error (the event got called off 10 minutes later fast forward to the weekend just gone 25th of Jan and there was finally a break in the weather to let racing happen. The first run the track was slippery and only managed a 12.1@129 Second run the track was better and got a new pb et and mph: 11.54@131   Lith and I then worked out that I installed the previously mentioned clutch slipper incorrectly and its never been working, and I had just been dumping the clutch the entire time, we also noticed it was on street boost and not race boost. So I lined up for a third run with the car turned up in the first two gears, but the passengers side axle objected to clutch dumps and left the chat which stopped my weekend.   so there will be another attempt in the future once I replace the tyres as they rubbed and are stuffed now. but a low 11 should be on the cards.

      Turbos don't require pulling the motor apart so that's "easier". I would recommend the Nismo R3 turbos instead if you want to do stock twin turbo. It doesn't make as much power as the 2530s but it's only like ~50 whp off the mark and should have better response (ball bearing CHRA, slightly smaller turbo). A local that went with a Garrett G30 and 6boost manifold recently nearly burned his car to the ground after the hood insulator started melting and and burning so if you go single turbo I recommend doing a lot of research and validation work to make sure you don't do the same.
