for the local ppl of sydney there was the supernats event held at eastern creek yesterday, i didnt go but hav heard it was pretty good. wat worries me is the setup the cop/rta/epa had there. friend of mine got done for speeding, noisy zorst, leaking power steering and horn not working, total $450 fine. and he reckons he was 1 of the lucky ones there compared to the other cars waiting to be inspected.

apparently there was about 4 or 5 test stations there which once ur pulled over u hav to go through, and at a event like that, wat kind of cars and fans wud u expect to rock up...mmmm. it was a feeding frenzy for the cops. did anyone get caught up in this mess ??

i kno cops cant do a RBT within a certain distance of pubs, so duz a similar rule apply in this instance ?? probably not.

don't wanna go into detail but my car is full of defects !!! so wat is there left for enthusiusts like us ???

buy a bicycle and let the goverment suffer from not having any defects/speeding fines!

now that would stuff them all up

but hopefully this country changes before something that drastic needs to happen

i hope

Fix the defects or be prepared to get a fine.  Quite simple really.

Thats right... simple.

If the cops think they can outsmart all the car enthusiasts by seting up these "test stations" outside car events (of all places), then outsmart them by making sure your car is tip-top... or don`t go to the event in a defective car.

I can assure you all that there is absolutely nothing more satisfying than having your car gone over by the transport dept. and the cops...3 time and still they find nothing...the whole time I just sat against the front guard talking on my phone and occasionally asked "have you lot finished wasting my time" the best feeling I gaurantee :) Yes it cost to get it right but it is worth every cent.

i understand the idea of fixing defects so u dont get fined for them but my point is who sets these rules ???

ever seen a engineer try to put sumthing togetha on paper but the technician laughs at the idea in practice (no offence to engineers)

ever seen tech books where the typist types stuff down he/she doesnt know about and makes mistake (no offence to typist)

surely sum1 can agree that some of the rules are really silly and not practical ???

end of the day i do realise rules are rules and u gotta follow them so i dont need ppl telling me that but i am just after sum thoughts of others about this issue

The problem with mods is that there is one rule for all cars for example they say that it is against the law to lower a car more than 100mm from the ground unless it is like that as standard now for a lot of cars you can easilly go beyond 100mm and still drive it like my mates old EK Civic which was defected at 45mm off the deck...you could still turn lock to lock without interfearence and the suspension could still travel without bottoming out yet it was still "Illegal" Unless there was a rule for every single different car on the market then we have to either do the right thing of hope not to get caught...the later is the option I normally choose and have done well in my years of driving modded cars, the key is to not take your car where there is a likelyhood of you being pulled by the cops...like at a "Car event"

I remember leaving last years Jamboree in QLD in my line with NO exhaust apart from my 4" dump and front pipe...it was way loud and there was a cop parked just after the entrance, I remember thinking "Dam here we go" now it would have been my fault if I had been caught...lucky I had enough speed up to just coast past him and down the road...but I would have had no one to blame had I been caught....

On a side note :) Don't try driving like this for more than a few minutes, it was a 70 minute drive home at 10pm, by the time I got home my head was thumping :) Sounded sweet though.
