lol! mate your car has a CF bonnet from factory! So they must be subject to testing and be passed originally.. at least in Japan!

Its all about crash testing, they need to see where the cars crumple zones are, in a crash you want the car to absorb enegy not simply transfer the energy into the winshield and cut your head off; most aftermarket cf bonnets are probably illegal because they are not tested on the car whereby the r34 gtr vpec cf bonnet has been and passed.

I didnt mean cf is illegal but its geometry is and must prove to the automotive system that it will perform predictably in an accident.

how do those stupid pagani zonda's get through.

Same thing, there are a number of cars for sale atm that are almost all carbon fibre: enzo, zonda, ascari, SLR, apollo, carerra gt, dbr, mclaren f1, veyron etc

All of them have been tested and given a rating on their performance; there is a minimum requirement required.
