Simplicity basically. Which is the reason most people buy macs (whether or not the're prepared to admit it). Its a reasonalbly powerfull thing with a big-ass display running MacOS. For work its perfect and for play it's more than adequate.

At the time i bought it building a similar spec PC was not that much cheaper (once you factor in an IPS Display) and this way I get a 3 year warranty on all the compnents - I've had very good interactions with AppleCare re: Warranty's in the past.

But what it really comes down to is my own preference for MacOS.

And when its time to upgade it will be wall-mounted and become the new TV in the bedroom (screen can act as a display, or more likely just use a USB TV tuner).

I fail to understand how people can have a preference for that POS but fair enough lol, yeah if you wanna get anal and have to have an IPS screen the Dell Ultrasharp is ~$1k, but the other $2k or so would build a fairly kick arse rig.

I do like the screens in them over the Ultrasharps though, I think it's because the glass is glossy.

Not a fan of the all in one form factor, mainly because when something dies it's a huge production, can't upgrade much etc, heating etc etc.

They're all good points. Like you say its a personal preference. Also I sit on the other side of the form factor fence (clean freak). When the time comes to upgrade again; I'll see whats available at the time, I don't strictly adhere to "the code of the mac" like a good little fanboy.

As far as something dying, you're right, it would be easier to replace the faulty component and move on quickly, but on the other hand, Apple Support is excellent and I know if anything at all dies its simply a case of loading it into the box and saying "here, fix this and make sure I keep my data". This has saved my arse in the past (faulty wireless network card on the imac (replaced with a brand new imac in 3 days due to parts not being in stock) and faulty DVD drive on my old Laptop (despite being 3 months outside of the warranty period).

Hey, noob here...

Just bought a Samsung NF210 (one of the mini 10" laptops.)

For the life of me I can't change the wallpaper!!

The usual right click on the picture and "set as background" does nothing, and I can't find a settings box for the wallpaper either!

It's got windows 7 starter...

Boots successfully at 4.25Ghz, but it doesn't like it for long. Now runs @ approx 3.4Ghz clock speed which leaves memory at 1600Mhz. Slightly bumped Vcore, QPI, ICH, and IOH voltages.

Probably get another 295 for it soon. Still not much of a need.

Server: Crap dell server running an MD1000 Vault with 4x 2TB HDD's for now. Room for up to 15 drives total.

Basically bought and built mid december. Won't be doing any overclocking and may buy another GTX 570 later for SLI (when prices come down)

Cable loomed pretty much every cable. I didn't notice I had a 'black' theme going until I finished.

Once PSU was in, cable management went to sh*t. Stupid ultra long power cables.

When turned on.

Plays all the games I've thrown at it without it missing a beat. All graphics settings on the highest. The only drawback with the system is the case. Its a pain the ass to just open it as its not your standard 2 screws at the back then slide the side off. instead, you have to unscrew 8 small screws thats holding it on the chassis. So my community announcement would be to avoid this case if you tend to open the sides alot.
