Email received today from Mountain Motorsports...

Dear Competitor

Here is the real situation regarding the 2009 January Australia Day long weekend Lake Mountain Classic.

Currently we have insufficient entries to make the event work. But we're doing everything we can to make it happen but we need your help by your committing to the event.

With that in mind the price has been reduced $500, making the entry fee now only $1500. That's deluxe value for two days of solid tarmac action.

Additionally we have a fantastic incentive package for competitors attending the 2009 Lake Mountain Classic.

It's based on total number of competitors at the 2009 Lake Mountain Classic.

We have a sliding scale, which provides you with a credit for the any Mountain Motorsports event. What that really means is that if you commit to the 2009 Lake Mountain Classic and we get:

40+ entries you receive a $ 150.00 credit

50+ entries you receive a $ 250.00 credit

60+ entries you receive a $ 350.00 credit

If you compete in the Lake Mountain Classic and Lake Mountain Sprint a $500.00 credit toward Mt Buller Sprint is applied.

So, as an example, if 50 entries come in for Lake Mountain Classic, you get a $250 discount on any Mountain Motorsport event. But if you then do Lake Mountain Sprint, which you can apply your $250 discount to, you'll get a further $500 discount for completing the two LM events. That makes Mt Buller Sprint becomes $500 cheaper. And we'll keep the sliding scale going from here on at every event. Got it?

Oh, and as a response to competitor input a new tyre rule limiting the quantity of tyres allowed is now in the supp regs, as well as a pure showroom class.

NB: We absolutely need to confirm final numbers before 31st December 2008 to ensure everything is in place for the January event.

What can you do? Go to the MOUNTAIN MOTORSPORTS website and download the entry form.

Now fax it back to (03) 98172152 straight away confirming your entry and secure the future of the event.

And if any of you received Mr Rudd's $1000 stimulus package, you've only got to cough up another $500. Easy!

So have a great Christmas from all of us at Mountain Motorsports and we wish you a Happy New Year.

But send your entries in before 31 December so we can as have one as well and relax for a bit instead of sweating it out.

It's a tough one given there is 3 rallies in basically 2 weeks so really they are all trying to get the same market. Not easy at all.

It would be much wiser if everyone sat down and organised a decent yearly calander - especially given after the start of May there hardly anything for the rest of the year and yet here we are with 3 crammed into 2 weeks!

There'll be more of this given the current financial crapola...... and I fully agree, a tarmac rally series should be nutted out by those concerned, and even some of the cams events would then swing over to aasa to ensure inclusion in the series.

Duncan and I were looking to do this in the 32 for a bit of fun but it looks like I will be Tassie bound around the same time.

Getting everyone together to organise a calendar of events sounds far too organised for motorsport :domokun:
