Had such a WankStar!

Need boot realse to work!

Since my Bonnet / Fendors are viberglass he says!! ( U need to take of the whole front end! )

Then he was suggesting my boot was fiberglass!! which it is not! he checked everything being a newb! i got a list full!

At the end he says ITS A SKYLINE I NEED TO CHECK THESE THINGS!!

Whoooaaa...

Go to welshpool man.

When I imported my car, i asked the pit inspector more questions then he asked me.

A trick i think works is if you know something is borderline dodgy, be upfront and ask them, and say that you are unsure about it. Half the time they will say "Yeah you needa change/fix that, but I trust you'll do it, so i wont worry about it"

I went to auto power in joondalup, its a workshop that does pit inspections, no waiting just dropped my car off and picked it up later. The guy is a good mechanic so he knows what he is talking about too. 5 Winton road is the address. I took my corolla there to change state plates and he said change a couple of tyres (they were rooted) and all set.

So Not having mesh infront of the FMIC is a legal ?? hrmm dnt think so !

i heard from a inspector somewhere you need a mesh or grill in front of a cooler cos if leaves get in there. it can be a fire hazard

I think Inspectors wants to pick on everything they were letting an old xr6 ford over with zaust holes and everything the guy says Merry xmas rips the yellow off

But to me he says

i know it sounds stupid, but they have a bumch of laws that dont make sense too. They reckon it can be caught in something between the cooler and the radiator behind it, which doesnt make sense either.

    • I thought an engine that needs more ignition timing to make power is going to result in less power due to reduced knock margin? More time for the combustion to propagate -> more time for it to heat up the rest of the mix to detonation.

    • FWIW, the Sutton Road facility is a good one, they have a wet kidney skidpan and a dry area as well as the back track....the club hired it a few times back in the day The clover and wet pans at Eastern Creek are the only ones I still know of in Sydney, that place is always expensive but different clubs would run different prices/formats There used to be a place called HART at St Ives, not sure if that still exists. We used to hire the runway at the tafe at schofields for dry motorkhana, not sure if anyone still does that. And of course that lovely one at Oran Park that is now a housing estate....

    • So, I did a skid pan last Friday at SMSP which I totally sucked at. I'd like to get better at this but it was $350 and I probably got about 20 mins on the pan over the 4 hours I was there which is just not a great ROI.  I don't have a LSD in the car yet, that will happen before I go again. I was struggling to get the car to be consistent and I think it was the open diff. I also struggled to maintain any control at all once it did step out. More practice needed.  I found this one but it's a good 7hrs round trip for me. https://www.fifthgear.com.au/course/advanced-skidpan-training Are there any others that people have been to around Sydney?
