The TS system allows you to use healthy cams particularly if you go bigish on the TS turbine housing .

The point a lot of people miss with a properly functioning TS system is that the turbine housing A/R needs to be big so that you get high flow rates with less pressure driving the gas . To not get a pressure rise/restriction the passages need to be large . This is also the reason why serious TS systems use the larger divided T4 international sized flange on the turbine housing and manifold .

Examples would be the HKS cast manifold for RB26's and the turbine housing footprint on HKSs T04Z turbine housings/manifolds .

Yes I know those HKS Z turbine housings are not twin scroll but they would not have gone part of the way for no reason , cheaper to make a single entry housing than partial twin entry one .

I believe ATP are now offering twin entry T4 flanged TS turbine housings for the GT3582R and maybe GT3076R as well .

Too late this time but for those interested Geoff probably does T4 flanged manifolds for SR's and has been for RB25/26 for some time . Like all smart people they make the flanges suit both RB25 and RB26 stud patterns .

Geoff definitely makes T4 flanged manifolds for the SR20, as we were discussing that as an option prior to me going the 71R route. The only reason I decided on the T3 was the compatability of other turbo's I'd likely be running as I found the T4 a bit restrictive for me.

It's a shame the .82 housing only just came out, but it will be worth experimenting with down the track with both the 71R and 76R I think. Between Ian and I we should get some good SR data on both turbo's with different housing, and housing modifications.

Well no doubt Geoff would have told you that the 0.78 GT32 housing is workable though no exactly in my mind ideal . It is comvenient in that it is twin scroll and has a "T3" mounting flange on it .

I expect you would have read all the info at Freshalloy.com and it was a while back that Geoff noted that those GT32 housings do create a power ceiling based on their exhaust flow limit , its not what you'd call low but in a perfect world having a bit more flow potential would pay off .

I also hope you noted what the Americans have gotten out of their KA24DE turbocharged engines , killer mid range torque starting 800 revs sooner than the SR20s in a similar state of tune . Arguably a better drift engine , iron block and a real cam lobe on bucket twin cam head as well .

Many won't agree but I reckon a turbo engines turbine/turbine housing/exhaust manifold/exhaust are among its most critical components if you are to make super power reliably .

I agree wholeheartedly, which is why after building my 'big' engine I decided to go all out on what I felt was the best turbo kit for my application. I was tossing up a lot of options, and was speaking with Geoff and Ian for a few months prior to making my decision, as well as researching all threads on Fresh Alloy, Evo foruyms and anywhere else I could find relevant information.

My existing turbo kit was doing a good job and was quite impressive for it's age in my books, but ultimately I wanted top performance and reliability and feel I'll get that with this setup (hopefully anyway!).

I think the KA24 iron block would have come in handy with my sleeves...

Yeah, a 7.73 at 182mph is not bad from a KA24DE with manual shift.....it even sounds stock at idle Lol.

Although the Mazworx SR22 is still quicker and slightly faster at 7.4 and 183mph

Lol.......I always like to get the opinions of others though as they've probably seen more setups than I've had hot dinners....but yeah I will probably try the 3076 52 trim. :)

SR OT but the interesting one to research would be the crank from a small KA engine , I believe thaere was a JDM KA20 in something and if it went into a KA24 with longer rods then it maybe possible to shorten the stroke and have a higher rev ceiling .

The 89mm bore gives you more room for increased valve area and the direct bucket actuation is always preferable to rockers IMO . Shoot me I'm biased , had FJ20s in the past .

I agree with the rocker opinion....but thats why the VVL heads are becoming popular on the SR's which still use a rocker setup but with a single rod going through each set of rockers to hold them into position.....plus two cam profiles activated by solenoids.

Still its a rocker setup of sorts but Mazworx have proven the reliability of this setup with their engine turning to 11,000 rpm.

Is this a JDM or ADM S15?

How much of this work have you done yourself?

No not a dedicated track car....it looks stock from the outside....to try and keep a low profile on the streets....but so far I'm failing....I've racked up more fines, points loss, suspended licence etc in the last 12 months since the mods were done than my previous 20 odd years of driving. Its just a bad influence on me.....thats no excuse I know....I must get more track time. I will put the new turbo on and head to the track and enjoy it.

I did most of the grunt type work such as fitting cooler, radiator, wire and fit thermo fans, battery relo, spraying engine bay where battery tray was removed, relocate fuse box, ducting, fit autronic, clutch brackets, brake cooling guides, gauges, diff swaps and basically anything that bolted on or needed modifying, or designing, such as my catch cans, washer bottle, aircon brackets, etc. I had the motor built locally and head done by JHH in Qld. My tuner did the rest and I assisted him on occassions when four hands are better than two. I run a business so I don't always have the luxury of time, as I work 6 days a week typically so I did what I could do on weeknights, Sundays and holidays, and farmed out stuff that I couldn't do or would take me too long to do as I wanted to finish the project and at times wondered if it would ever get finished.

The original plan was to fit a GTRS turbo onto my stock motor, add some cams, injectors, give it a tune......12 months off the road and....this is how it turned out.....as tends to happen with most builds.

hahah yeah amen to that last bit! never ends up being only what you plan, i.e. "need reconditioned gearbox, hell why not a new clutch while its out?"

Sounds like youve done a fair amount of work there mate, you should be proud!

Was most of the tuning/building done at X-Speed? never had any dealings with them but they seem to have quality work to go with their (large) price tags.

How long till its on the road/at a tuning day do ya rekon?

Lumpy Campbell did the original tune/original work that I didn't do.

C-Red are doing the work on it now. One hold up however, I'm still waiting on an exhaust housing from the US which I have been waiting on for the best part of 3 months. The dude that arranged it to be extrude honed for me in the US sent it to the wrong address.....in America mind you....lol I'm in Australia....obviously he was trippin' on something when he filled out the delivery address :blush::D;):bunny::(:wacko: .

He then had to pay for it to be sent back to him...he'll then hopefully send it onto me in Australia.......and one day I should receive it.....hopefully before fossil fuel runs out!!!! No wonder that country is in a mess :blink: .

Well I have received the extrude honed ex housing and just received a pair of the new Tial 44mm MVR watercooled gates and a few other bits and pieces. I needed more room with these shorter gates to fit in the 3.5 inch dump.....and the good thing is that these will fit straight onto the existing flanges/setup. I'll drop the gates off to C-Red tomorrow. Then its in their hands.
