Rb26 Making Noise.. Whats It Sound Like?

Hey,

i have a r32 gtr with a r33 rb26 thats fully worked that was rebuilt no more then 20 thousand ks ago.

i was driving it home 2 days ago and just as i drove in my drive way it started making a ticking/knocking noise.

does this sound like a spun bearing??

if so what could have caused this so soon after a rebuild? i got it compression tested 2 weeks ago and came back perfect then this happens??

So.....who built it? What is done to it? Possibilities of failure are semi endless, incorrect assembly, incorrect clearances, losing oil pressure etc. Need to pull it down to have a look.

Most likely problem is failed oil pump causing spum bearings

when u take the engine out, take off the head and throw the entire bottom end straight into the tip because pretty much none of it will be salvagable with that load a knocking

Sounds horribly like a spun bearing alright. Had one myself not long ago. I'm happy to come and have a listen close up just to confirm it if you like, I'm in coorparoo, but don't drive the thing over. Don't drive it at all. Send me a PM and I'll be happy to come and have a look.

Something is pretty seriously f**ked by the sound of it, no way of knowing what without dismantling the bottom end, sorry to say but its going to be pricey.

meh, bed it on the dyno, tune it up. If its put together right thats all it should need

Either way, its beyond dead. crank and everything no doubt to the recycling mill

and ye, endless possibilities as to what could have killed it. The list is long

Something has definitely spun.

Rebuild time unfortunately, grab yourself an RB30 bottom end as your one might not be salvageable.
