Yeah the defect happned on stud road rowville just outside stud park.

Anyways i went into knox police station the other day to see if i could get it extended and the guy made a few phone calls and told me the only person who could extend it was Pettit himself, turns out pettit is on Holidays till the 3rd so from the 28th to the 3rd there is not a hell of a lot i can do about it,

My skyline is a S1.5 with drivers airbag, not having much luck finding a engineer working though the chrismas break, a guy in eltham from Torque Torque apparently does alot of work with imports. but he isnt back till the 15th of Jan.

Does anyone know of a Wreckers in the eastern suburbs where i can pick up a front Rio bar which i stupidly cut (now obviously have to replace.

The up side of the Defect is that i dont have to get a RWC just the V.A.S.S cert. two back tires and a new front number plate.

Thanks for the Help

what was wrong with your number plate?

The number plate had been previously cut in one or 2 of the corners hardly even noticable, it was even like that when i bought the car so it must of passed the Roadworthy back then not sure that the laws have changed about having a tiny bit of number plate missing.

The law never changed. It's just some people aren't as anal about it.

Biggest crock of shit ever. Once pettet reports it its not in his power to allow you an extention. That has to be sorted with the EPA. So give the EPA a call and ask them.

This is the sort of stuff I want to hear at christmas, not.

Fair enough you have some illegal mods but he gave you that defect knowing damn well you were gonna have one hell of a time finding an engineer at this time of year, he gave me 3 weeks at least when I got done.

Anyway hope you get it sorted.

The defect is, he didnt say anything about EPA here...

VASS does not cover RWC

VASS are approving vehicle modifications/integrity, the general road worthyness of the car (basic things like oil leaks, boots, etc etc) are what your local VicRoads approved mechanic does.

Is it at all possible to bypass the VASS certificate,

because it looks like the only way its going to get done is if i put the SMIC back in and take my car to a panel beaters to get the hole welded in and painted over the top Thus by passing the VASS?

does anyone know if this is correct? Because from what i have been told a S1.5 with drivers airbag will no way get a VASS certificate because of air bag sensor so getting a VASS is really not an option for me Except on the infringment it says VASS certificate must be supplied to remove the defect, im so confused about the whole situation.

if you've been noted down for a VASS, id fully imagine you'd need to get one.

Fixing the problem is half the step, getting the VASS to prove you have fixed the problem is the next step

A panel beater isn't a VASS engineer, nor can they issue one

If you read the link on the first page, which is again below, it covers it.

I don't understand what's confusing you. You know you need to get it fixed, you know you need a VASS.

So what's still the issue exactly?

Well i was confused about deff needing a Vass, But i called Vicroads and a guy there told me that i can put it back to stock and get something in writing from the panel beater saying the hole has been covered up thus no longer needing a VASS which is what i thought.

    • If you're really considering leaving it, a great question to ask is, is the magnet going to stick to the sump? The answer to the above is the same answer towards if I'd have any level of comfort leaving it... Personally, based on the cost of a motor if the magnet were to cause damage, I'd be fishing it out either way. Use the methods in here. It fit in through the plug hole, it'll come out.   PS, get a small actuatable claw for a bore scope. OR if you know a vet, they have really cool controllable scopes with hooks on the end. Supposedly they're like playing a video game. Ask if they can acquire you one of their scopes... Engine oil after all is just a different type of lube right? Will only make it easier on the next dog or cat...
    • All other (Boolean) logic functions though, are just built on those blocks above. Which does give you a lot of functionality in logic. It is basing that on using thresholds with analogue signals like GTS alluded to.   Not having things like timers will make it less useful for some of the ramp up logic you'd want, and again, on Haltecs capacity specifically, I'm not across anymore what you can / can't do with different tables.   I'm assuming, with your logic you want to implement, not only do you want your timing safeties, you're wanting to be able to derive the duty cycle for your solenoid, to maintain I'm assuming 175PSi? Or are you using a standalone WMI controller to maintain the DC correct, and you just want the Haltech working out which fuelling maps you should be on?
    • It doesn't seem to follow revs. Oddly it seems to follow TPS a little bit from what I can see, but with some delay a bit. IE end of the graph, when he lets off throttle fully, pressure drops a lot, then slowly builds back up, but rpm is on a nice cruisey drop off. I do agree though, it seems very electrically.
    • I just try to entirely stay away from ladder now unless it's something basic maintained by electricians. Even then and to your point, it mostly ends up being blocks I wrote in structured text.  PLC's are slowly going towards C, C++ and C#. I just wish Allen-Bradley would jump on the bandwagon.
    • All of them are missing. You do not get much done with just AND, OR and NOT unfortunately. Ecumaster for example has a text based editor with at least 60+ math and logic instructions.
