My auto headlight sensor seems a little too sensitive as the lights come on if I even drive through a shadow!

Wouldn't normally worry but a friend on a recent cruise said it looked like I kept flashing him to the point of being annoying.

Is this adjustable?

cheers

Geoff

i don thave this problem but i dont use auto headlights, i just use the manual one

a bit off topic

do you V35 boys have a function where the dash cluster will automatically change it's brightness according to ambient light? It does on my v36 and sometimes it can get annoying on a bright day going through tunnels or under bridges/overpasses

no doubt it can be turned off but all menus in japanese hehehe

the auto function works quite well in the v36, even at dusk it will only turn on until after a certain amount of light has dimmed

My auto head light works well, actually I feel it is a little bit too un sensitive, it only turn on when it is way too dark,(also when in tunnels).

TO YO YO:

v35 have the same function as v36. But as I said my senser is not that sensitive, so I am pretty happy with it.

Frank

Yes the sensitivity is adjustable, but you need a consult or compatible to change it.

It's got a few other funky things you can mess with like the time the interior dome light stays on after you turn the ignition off.

Other things like how cold the aircon is you can change via a combination of button press procedures.

I know your being serious but........ I generally use the air con buttons to control the temperature :santa: (you know the up and down)

being serious.... what do you mean by this. what is there to adjust other than the temperature and this is on a digital scale

???

You have me confused.

Oh and Geoff mine seems to work ok, however I don't use it often. I prefer to do things myself.

I'm with you on an answer to this....I'd be very interested!

I like the auto dash dimmer system...it seems pretty cool!...still, knowing how to tamper with parameters would be pretty cool too...espesh the idea of playing with the AC system settings (via button combo's??).

Superspit....(all time tinkerererer)

Hey Geoff, dont quote me, I would doubt you would have a manual adjustment. (sort of defeats the purpose I reckon) A japanese friend translated the buttons and I certaily dont recall anything that does this. Short of a changing a sensor I would just use manual.

Have to admitt the auto dimmer on the dash lights was a surprise when it I first used auto lights.. But its fine.

Aircon sensitivity was adjustable in the R33 (32 and 34 would be the same as the control panel is very similar) Up 3 and down 3 degrees...

Can't remember how exactly, but most dealers would know.

This is a guess from memory...

Ignition off, hold auto button, turn ignition on.

let go of auto - use up button to get to number 2 and then press cold and hot buttons to get plus or minus values

might be wrong tho

    • Sadly I can confirm if you are actually seeking to drift, you will quite easily spin up one wheel. Even if you're going in a straight line. I am not entirely sure of the metrics/terminology here but there's only a certain amount that the helical will actually spin both wheels. I've seen it on video with my own car where two lines of smoke switch over to just one after you really get in to it. Unlike with a clutch diff where you can keep your foot planted until the car regains grip, in my experience with the helical you want to be utilizing traction control allowing LIMITED slip or lifting (partially) when you start to spin up both tyres with a Nissan helical. Which makes them pretty sub optimal for drifting duty. That said... this is probably a helical on numbers alone. Just put the Kazz in
    • Let's just fix the problem by f**king the rest of the gearbox.
    • Unlikely, as per Greg's post. This is not helical diff behaviour unless one wheel is up off the ground. Shimming what? You don't "shim" a mechanical LSD. Probably not in the sense that you have heard of people "shimming" a diff. And the process that Nissan f**kwits call "shimming" a diff involves super-preloading a VLSD cartridge against the side of the diff to create a friction/wear point (in a place that it wasn't supposed to have one) to make the sloppy, useless, viscous diff into a hybrid viscous/mech abortion. In case it isn't clear, I consider the process to be stupid. Nike.
    • How much does the shifter move when the car is in gear with the engine off? If it is more than about 1cm you need to replace your shifter bush. Your shifts will just get crunchier, not faster, with a short shifter unless you also rebuild the whole box
