my gut tells me they only got the Enzo to test provided Schuey drove it. He broke the track record by some phenominal amount, but there are cars already opn the leaderboard that probably should have beaten it. So I reckon it was a one off appearance. The 430 Scuderia was faster around Ferarri's test track, for instance.

small question. what laps did vettel stop on? and when did webber stop?

Webber stopped only one lap earlier on the first stint running a leaner fuel map to stretch his fuel. i think it was MW lap 19 vs SV lap 20

Vettel stopped earlier in the 2nd stint on lap 43 vs MW on lap 45.

Yeah this is what i thought, that car looked pretty insane tho!

seemed like just a good intro to bring him into the show..

ok, now this makes more sense. I doubt they would ever reveal a long running stig. in reality it could well have been half a dozen different blokes over the years. it's encouraging though that MS can still smash their dicky little test track record in a car that as you say should not be the quickest on the list. :D

Did anyone else think Massa did a pretty cracking job to finish 4th? He got virtually 0 air time because the British broadcast was too busy following Hamilton's scrap for 16th :P , but he smoked it off the start with the help of KERS, and held off some more fancied competition in the closing stages. Definitely looking more positive for them. Do people think Ferrari will stick with KERS, now that they're the only team on the grid using it?

Watching Q2 on Saturday, I really thought this was shaping as Webber's best chance yet for a race win. It's hard to say that Kimi cost him pole etc etc, but I agree with what others have said here - it certainly would have made things more interesting if Mark had had an opportunity to chase Sebastian from the word go. He stuck to the back of Rubens for the whole first stint, left him well behind after the first stop, and essentially matched Vettel's pace thereafter, which suggests things could have at least been closer.

now in a less than perfect car he struggles to get through Q1. finally some justice.

jeez you can be a bell-end; he would have no doubt made Q2 if it wasn't for the Force India n00b-up :P

he'd already set the fastest first sector time of anyone in Q1 before the rest of his lap was rooned by the yellow (and then red) flags

at any rate, the team really have to rethink their quailifying strategy... ah fuggit- roll on 2010

Just goes to show, everyone who though hammo was the next senna or shcumi as those dikweed commentators referred to him as senna-esc in many races.

Webber will win a race, i have faith :)

Massa was crazy, nice stuff dont know how kimmi ended up behind massa when he was in 5th :S :S

kimmi's a cool cat, so relaxed

reckon his face changes when 4g's are being pushing against his head and chest ??

i doubt it lollll

The point is you are only as good as the POS you are driving...and a better test is how you are motivated and respond when driving a POS. I think Lewis is lost. So the Sutil crash may have cost him Q2 at Silverstone. But i ask what happened at Monaco? What happened in the sphincter of the universe? This is his 3rd race in a row where he has been out in Q1 :)

The fact that he did some circle work after Silverstone, hey may be good for the fans...but was so unprofesional. If he won the race i can understand....but i bet the team were not happy about him doing it and that is the final yardstick of whether it was right or wrong,

You can see that he is very relaxed with his joking with media, taking to his Mrs seconds before going out....his head isnt in his racing at the moment. Fair enough its a bucket of a car, but he is a professional and i would rather him go back to the angry man we saw earlier in the year where at leat he was making Q2 and racign just outside of the points.

exactly. he is on holidays. he'd decided that if the car is not good enough for consistent wins then why bother. as he is the new senna why should he put up with sub par machinery? wanker. as I said before, guys like webber drive the balls off the thing no matter what they are given. hell even sato put the effort in (even it if was a bit misguided and lacked the talent to go with it) when he was running up the back and mid pack.

lewis is just another bloke that unless he has the best toys he just does not want to play. so he just turns up, puts in the minimum required to get his fat pay cheque and give his daddy something to do.

I can remember back to when schuey had what was far from an ideal car and he was all business. all focus. his arm candy was at home watching the race on telly whilst doing the ironing where she should be. no distractions at the track and no bullshit. just hard work. hamilton always has to have his gf out there perhaps so people will stop accusing him of being gay.

fact is hamilton is having trouble consistently beating kovalinen which shows just how little effort he's putting in. looking back at results, china, lewis went from 9th to 6th but kovie went from 12th to 5th to beat him. at monaco lewis qualied 20th vs 7th for kovie. at the sphincter of the universe he just beat him by one spot but was out qualied and we know what happend last weekend. his only half decent stab has been bahrain. when he was actually making an effort he was spanking kovie at every meet, both qualie and race. now it's tit for tat between them.

the REAL top drivers like schumacher would put in 100% if you gave them a billy cart to drive. and in a year or 2 they'd have helped you turn that billy cart into a front runner. hamilton took a top level team and car, drove it with varying degrees of competence (and plenty of f**kups) for a year or two and now that things are on the downslide he is on vacation.

I remember reading an article somewhere (don't recall exactly where) and it told the story about how a reporter had to go to the track to do the interview with MS. Apparently long after most of pitlane had expired for the night MS could be found analyzing data with engineers in the garage, looking at where he could extract a few extra precious 10ths.

yep, it's called work ethic and is probably half the reason he was such a prolific winner. while half the drivers are off getting hand jobs and getting pissed he is most likely nerding it up with the engineers learning how to win. not sure it's the right call, but it would certainly endear him to his employers. no matter how much he was paid they got value for money...

Gospel.

Here Here. I'm loving saying I told you so to my mates. Is it just me or is Hamiltons career eerily similar to one Jacques Villeneuve, almost wins WDC in debu year (in the best car by miles), just wins in his second year (still in the best car), gets a average car in his third year and he's nowhere.

IMO The Kube, and Vettell will have a better career in the end, as they started in lower teams.

We've seen that sort of thing and it's incredibly easy to separate the elite from the good. Damon Hill is another that comes to mind, although David Coulthard was team mate alongside both Damon (at Williams) and Mika (at McLaren) in Newey designed Williams and McLaren's and still couldn't get the job done!!!

Most drivers that have come into F1 and gone straight into a competitive car have more often than not had minimal long term success or none (Andretti, Hill, Villeneuve, Montoya, Zanardi, Coulthard.... these are the first ones that come to mind). Will be interesting to see how Hamilton's career progresses because history isn't necessarily on his side.

Some of the greats (and some not so highly regarded) that I rate have kind of come through the ranks inside F1 (started their careers with ordinary teams), I'd include the likes of Michael Schumacher, Alain Prost, Ayrton Senna, Nelson Piquet, Nikki Lauda, Fernando Alonso, Mika Hakkinen who are all won multiple WDC's.

    • Hey @Butters, did you end up getting this clutch in ? I have just ordered to a uniclutch track to go in my getrag 6 speed that’s in my BNR 32
    • I know you don't want to hear this comment, but I can't not say it.  I just can't see 200kw being worth the time and effort. Its like guys with NA cars, putting in headers/exhaust/tune for a massive 20% jump in power. Great, the slow car is still slow and you're down $10,000.  My vote is leave it NA or price in a gearbox upgrade and shoot for at least 300KW, preferably 350KW+.  Now you have a NC that will try to kill you from time to time and will be exciting to drive
    • Ah yep. The main message I want to pass on is, try not to get scared of ghosts when thinking about knock/knock detection.  What I mean is, healthy engines make noise. Knock is also noise. Your knock sensor and ECU combo are trying to determine bad noise from good noise based on how loud the noise is. The factory knock sensors and ECU are not good at doing this.  Modern ECU's are pretty decent at it, however I'd still say that you would want to verify that if your ECU says it's knock, that you actually listen to it and confirm that it is correct.  Are you familiar with the plex knock monitor?  https://www.plex-tuning.com/products/plex-knock-monitor-v3/ I expect you're the type of person that would be very keen to play with something like this. It is great knock detection and you can pop some headphones on and listen to what's going on.  Knock that you've deliberately induced in low load low RPM areas is not really putting anything at risk and is a great tuning/learning/verification tool.  I just thought this was worth mentioning based on the way you were talking about setting up a base map and the Haltech base map settings. There are better ways to spend your time then chasing ghosts and worrying about detonation in scenarios that it is crazy unlikely to encounter it.  I was also wondering, what ECU are you planning to get? Will it be long til you pick it up?
    • This came quicker than I thought. It ain't even 2025 yet.
    • I somehow quoted my post instead of editing it. I regret nothing.
