1. They've already announced they've stopped develpoment on the 09 car. that won't change because Schumacher is back in the seat. This means there wil be no more updates for the 09 car, not that they won't change setup of the hardware they have to suit Schumacher at the racetracks.

2. copout used by other drivers. he was fast from the moment he stepped into F1 having never driven one before or been to the track, and still out-qualified his experienced team mate. but irrelevant anyway as development of the 09 car has stopped.

3. the reason he is doing it is to support the driver they currently have! putting in a new driver would be far more disruptive to all parties involved, including Massa.

4. he is already on the Ferrari payroll. Ferrari and the promotors will make extra money from his temporary comeback as well. Besides, I can't see it hurting Ferrari's budget too much. But hey, its their money - and they seem to think this was the best move for them.

5. two dot points ago you were concerned about upsetting the current drivers and team. Blooding a young talent who has never driven in F1 before is going to be less disruptive than putting someone who is still heavily involved in the team back in the seat??? MS is no threat to Massa'a drive. The team is very familiar with him. And he is less likely to smash the thing to smithereens every weekend -see point 4. At this stage the obviously don't want a driver who will be of use for them in the future. They want Massa to have every chance to make a full recovery and get back in the seat next year.

That is the worst part of the decision. You get disruption anyway so why not get a long term gain out of it?

They want Massa to have every chance to make a full recovery and get back in the seat next year.

As, I am sure, does everyone else. But what if he can't?

They are looking for long term gain. Massa's.

you obviously missed the "At this stage..." part of that last paragraph. If for whatever reasons he can't or doesn't want to continue next year, they'll worry about it then I guess. Besides, rumour has it next year was going to be Alonso to replace Kimi. I guess if worse comes to worst, Kimi's contract gets extended. But whoever gets the drive, I'm sure they have contingencies in place, and you can be sure the option they took for the moment is the one that does suit them best.

djr81 ^ No offense but complete and utter nonsense, sorry there isn't a valid argument in anything you just wrote.

Put down the rose coloured glasses, why? When and where did Schuey run into Hill?

Rather than taking what I posed as a personal attack, try actually reading what I wrote. I spell it out a little clearer

1. It would be all about this years car for him & this year is already stuffed for Ferrari.< who said that Ferrari were going to waste resources on this years car? Your answer above makes no sense whatsoever.

2. He has idiosynchratic set up requirements that will be out of step with the regular drivers. Fine if you the teams No 1 driver, but useless if you are a stand in. < MS has driven post 2006 cars and he will adapt his style to the current car.

3. He would divide the team loyalty to the drivers they have. < Who else is in there other than Kimi? Maybe you're forgetting that one of their contracted drivers is in hospital recovering from sugery to the skull

4. He is going to cost coin better spent on other things < How do you know that MS isn't doing this for his current salary?

5. He will deprive a future talent of race experience that they can't get. Hell they can't even get testing experience any more. < You said it yourself!!! Why would Ferrari use these young guys who have limited or no experience in their F1 car when they had a viable option in using MS.... Would you rather they can spend more money fixing broken cars that were ploughed into the concrete barriers?.

They are looking for long term gain. Massa's.

Be interesting to see Alonso at Ferrari. He doesn't play well with team mates near his speed & a well Massa should be there or there abouts. A motivated Kimi would also be quick enough & more amusingly not at all bothered by Alonso's mind games. :)

Ferrari have the advantage that they can pretty much chuck money at any longer term driver contract problem. I wonder if they really do have an option on Alonso yet?

So, ahh, what does it sound like when you are trying to be offensive?

Put down the rose coloured glasses, why? When and where did Schuey run into Hill?

You doubtless saw the endless replays of Adelaide in 1994 when Schumacher deliberately turned down on Hill after he had already bent the car by stuffing it in the wall. Further argument about what happened 15 years ago doesn't help anyone though.

I did. I am of the opinion that they will spend more time / money / effort on this years car with Schumacher in it than they would with a new driver.

And he will also try & adapt the car to him. He would be stupid not to.

Just checked. Had not forgotten that.

4. He is going to cost coin better spent on other things < How do you know that MS isn't doing this for his current salary?

Schumacher may be a lot of things but he is neither stupid nor is he naive. You can bet he will be making large sums of cash out of this. He is, after all, putting his arse & his reputation back on the line.

Well the bloke who just debuted for Torro Rosso is no star & he managed to get through a GP without destroying a car.

My point is that if they end up needing a new driver why not get all that stuff out the way this year when it doesn't matter & do something for the sport whilst they are about it.

Yes seen the replays of Adelaide 1994 many times and the underlying factor there is that MS had every right to defend that corner because he was still leading the GP regardless of whether his car had been damaged before or not.

I think we'll just agree to disagree :)

I love michael schumacher. I don't give two fks if it's good or bad for ferarri in the long term. all i care about is we all get to see the master race again, and I'm just trying like hell to figure out which of these last few races I can get to so I can see him drive again in the flesh.

I just can't believe we have to wait 3 more bloody weeks for a race. damn you summer break!

Summer break sux !!!!

We wanna see schumi again, hope he gets a few wins.

And with no testing u can guarantee kimi will be testing out some knew strippers loll

I would love to see alonso in a ferrari, i think he will do very well.

Is it just me or does everyone think piquet is a whinger and sore loser, blaming others and everything else other than looking at himself.

From watching him race he seems hopeless makes silly mistakes, he is definitely one driver who should have never been given the opportunity.

Taking into account that alonso had more testing and is favoured in a way, still no excuse for slamming into a wall or other drivers.

Seems like he had some good contacts and a name, that's about it !!!

Well lets see, his career is going down the toilet & he is doubtless not very happy about it.

He came second to some bloke called Hamilton in the GP2 series & tested well for Renault. So he did deserve his ride but clearly has failed to make anything of it.

Not when Hill was so far beside him that when cheatmacker turned down on him hit Hill's front left wheel half way down his side pod...That in any racers language is a corner lost

lol, see schumacher "pulling a webber" on mark at turn 1 only to have webber "pull a schumacher" on michael on the last corner taking them both out of the race....

lol

We will probably see Schumacher 'pull a Webber' with a slow start and an obscure mechanical failure and Webber will wrestle a failing car for a glorious win, after parking his car across the track in quali.

I just can't believe we have to wait 3 more bloody weeks for a race. damn you summer break!

Shooey will even have his senior citizens card by then. Maybe the scuderia can use it at the Bridgestone dealer to get a discount on tyres?

But.... You never know at the end of the season he might decide to come back to F1, I personally don't believe his flame for f1 is out just yet. In which case it may be massa and schu, with kimi into WRC or something.

Schu is currently testing a 2007 f1 car at mugello, and the FOTA has agreed tO let him test the F60 now it all depends whether FIA allow him.

    • UPDATE: Hi all!  As we are getting towards the end of this thread where I’ll showcase final dyno numbers and graph, I wanted to provide an update. Tao from HyperGear has done an amazing job building the custom divided T3 housing for the G30. Communication was flawless, price was great, and now the housing is estimated to arrive in 7-10 days! Very very pleased. I must add, if someone is looking for an affordable turbo and end up reading this thread, I would recommend HyperGear. Genuine brands are the way to go as their proven reliability, predictable performance, and there’s a plethora of information available for specs, flow, and more. This HyperGear recommendation is based on their excellent communication, dedication, and willingness to listen to their customers. I particularly liked their ability to create custom adaptations tailored to specific needs, which is a HUGE benefit over other brands. And if we consider the HyperGear provided dyno results, it adds reassurance knowing their turbos can compete against genuine brands. Next update will be after the dyno!
    • I've previously seen people post up "dress up bolt kits" for RBs but don't remember seeing them specify the full contents. I can only really suggest you grab the verniers and start measuring, and keep in mind the cam cover and timing cover bolts are both quite specific with a wider unthreaded section where the bushes sit, that will make it hard to get aftermarket replacements which tend to be all thread (set screws) or for longer bolts a flat section with a shorter threaded section at the end
    • I believe there was a similar one posted by @duggyphresh. They were re-routing their battery positive cable in the way I am also trying to achieve. Sorry, I’m new to this forum, so was a bit late to the party by a few months and so reignited the old thread, as I wanted to know how they got on with doing it.
    • Wasn't there a thread on this very subject just a few weeks ago?
    • Hi all! Looking to relocate the battery to the trunk of an R34 GTT. I want to do it using as many stock GTR components as I can (including the harness protectors from the 34 GTR that run underneath along the chassis to the engine bay). So far I’ve purchased the battery tray from a 33 GTR, as the captive weld nuts are already there just asking to be used. There is also the slight issue of now having to relocate the ABS/TC/Fuel Pump Control ECU, which in GTT’s sits right above where the battery will then sit on the tray. Has anyone already achieved this, and if you have any pics that you wouldn’t mind sharing? It would be great to see how others have done it and where you put them, as there are countless holes in the parcel shelf panel to potentially use. Just trying to get some ideas bounced around, and to help uncover any potential problems I may encounter by  my choice of location. TIA for any help!
