yeah go webber! nice work on the burnout too, I can't believe the camera just panned away as it was happening too. what are they illegal like booze is over there?

vets certainly gave him a nice squeeze into T1 on the opening lap but webz managed to hold on. shame I had some money on webber for the win at 9:1 but luckily I took a back-up position on vettel to win at 5:1 which will get my money back. I also had some decent bucks on rosberg to make the top 8 which was paying 3:1. rosberg you cnt. just one more place!! argh, had webber made 1 more place and rosberg 1 more I would have been cheering. the GF had some cash on rubes to make a podium too and from memory it's odds were not bad, maybe 3:1 or so.

anyway, webber drove well to keep button behind him. in those last few laps webber was getting some mighty sideways action out of the slower corners. and lots of bum wagging under hard braking into them too so he did really well to keep it straight and nice and wide! and how sideways did he get into turn 1 when he clashed with rubes!! biiig moment that one, he did well to crank on enough lock and keep his boot down to hold it together and keep the place.

apart from the first few laps and the last few it seemed pretty boring (i dozed off a few times). but that's no surprise it's a tilke designed track and is just as boring as the rest of them.

it sounds like webber is confirmed at RBR next year which is a good thing. he was narrowly beaten by vettel this year, let's hope he can reverse it next year. it's heartening to see that that margain between button and rubes is double that between vettel and webber. you certainly wouldn't say vettel pounded him, it was very close between the two RBR guys, both had their mistakes, and they bad luck and some great drives as well.

Has anyone read the press conference stuff after with SV and MW sticking it to JB about the "media reported" impending nuptuals? This is the tail end of it.

JB I think there’s going to be a big battle at the front which is going to be a new thing for all of us, because having four teams fighting it out at the front, that hasn’t happened – could you just keep… β€˜scuse me, I’m just trying to talk – you might want to listen to this.

MW: We’re just talking about your wedding day, mate. We’re just trying to clear our schedules.

JB: But with four teams at the front, eight drivers fighting out for wins, I think that’s exciting, so, yeah.

Q: (Bob McKenzie – The Daily Express) What’s the date for the wedding, Jenson?

JB: It’s my birthday, did you say? By the way, I’m looking forward to my present, thank you very much, Bob. What did you call me before?

BMcK: The World Champion?

JB: That’s the one, thank you. I’m not getting married this year.

SV: Why not? You don’t love her?

MW: Clear up January, clear it up.

JB: I think some things need to be kept private in your life and that’s one of them. Thank you very much.

yes jenson looked p1ssed when vets made some remark about him getting married during the televised part of the post race conference. not happy at all. I say deal with it. He's a highly paid driver in a high profile sport. I mean if he wants a nice private life he can go and drive a tractor instead and get $50K a year instead of what was it? $10mil? I think he might have to live with being in the public eye just a tad....

Full transcript here.

mark webber looked the goods this year

hopefully he can grab 3-5 wins next year and be WDC by end 2010 season.

at least he finally proved with a decent car he can match it within the top 5

    • πŸ˜‚Β thanks guys. The diagram i had did not have the breather on it at all. Much appreciated. Β
    • Geez, engineers fees have definitely gone up. Mine back 2007 cost me all of $300. Mind you, I had to go back to him a few times to get him to write the correct things on the report after he'd inspected it. Things like wrong exhaust size, wrong wheel sizes, etc etc.
    • Can we see a scan of the original quote? The problem with engineers (and by this, I mean, all engineers across all engineering industries) is that there are "engineers" and there are "engineers" (you'll have to imagine the two different vocal emphases on those two versions of the same word. Engineering is a mindset - your farm kid who spent his life rebuilding the tractor will likely make a good engineer. The farm kid who spent his life taking photos of butterflies.. perhaps not. But on top of that mindset, the modern engineer has to learn how to write so that there is absolutely no way of being misunderstood. Proposals/budget estimates/quotations are one place where this is absolutely vital. You have to delineate your scope of supply with extremely hard boundaries, and anywhere where there is any possibility of not being able to have such a hard boundary, you need to write language that will cover you from scope creep, cost overruns, the inevitable interference of the client or their "engineer", etc etc. Now, if your clients are the BHPs and the Rio Tintos of the world, and similar, then you get good at this. If you are an automotive engineer, pitching work to the great unwashed masses, your skills in this area might not be well developed, because you're only dealing with knuckle draggers trying to get a big block legal in a Torana. And when I say "might not"....I'd suggest there's a better than even chance that any such skills might be completely absent. So, we might be able to look at your quote and see what the opportunities are for rebuttal.
