NA S15s are quite common and they're easy enough to find.

As for S14s, I personally have never actually seen or heard of one. That being said, I am sure they do exist as I've seen S13 Silvias with NA S14 SR20DE engines in them. S14 SR20DEs have VVT (variable valve timing) as opposed to S13 SR20s. They also slope down at the back of the rocker cover.

So yes they do exist. Finding them is another matter though!

Shane beat me to mentioning the Autech S15.. I read about it in a magazine some months ago (I think it was the HPI Magazine?) and the power result worked out to be around the same as the turbo model with the smooth power delivery of the N/A motor. Problem is that there's clearly more gains to be had in modifying a Turbocharged 200SX, particularly when the Autech is already modified to get that sort of power from the N/A motor.

I think the Autech was also lighter?

Put the money into a compound interest bearing bank account and wait until you can drive a FI car.

Paying 23K in this economic environment for a non turbo S15 is ridiculous.

Mind you, there was a post on here about a sales ad re a R32 GTS-T going for 36K - ROFLMAO

I have seen NA S14's for sale before.

Have a look on care sales

thats because ppl have done the NA conversion in them.

there are NA S14's straight from Nissan factory over in the states, NZ, UK & in japan but Australia doesn't allow them to be brought over to be complied & rego'd - track use is ok

Autech S15 is good and thats the model you want, its around $20k for one.

example of S14 NA (they're dirt cheap too in NZ)

when looking at buying a car, i came across a white s1 s14 that was claimed to be non turbo, couldnt really drive it though at the time no experience in a manual at the time since i was 16 and wasnt really update with specs. but it was located in melbourne.

S14s came in a "Q's" configuration (i.e. NA), but they're not eligible for import.

S15s came in at least 3 NA variants (the regular coupe, which you can't import), and the grey imported Varietta convertible and the Autech coupe with the tuned 147kW engine.

Whether it's a rip off or not is arguable. Unless state governments remove the P plater restrictions in the near future, the price of these cars will stay high as they're the only ones P platers can drive. Low supply and demand driven by restriction will see to that. NA S13s have actually held value, if not appreciated a little, since the P plate restrictions came into effect.

If I remember correctly the Autech is a little heavier than the turbo S15, as the chassis has been reinforced. With a pod filter the thing has an induction growl reminiscent of a Honda on VTEC.
