Hey guys I've recently been bitten by the mods bug and I'm after some advice.

I've been talking with my friend and he's been giving me some ideas on how to go about it.

Basically I want keep it looking stock engine wise but pull as much power as I can.

I've been suggested into looking at the Garrett gt2871r for it's internal waste gate.

What else can I do with my car to pull some more power without making anything look to noticeable to the average mr plod. I have a heat coated exhaust coming with a noise flange installed to the cat to help hush the sound.

Any idea's?

I was just having a look at your 300kw adventure thread, that's insane lol!

I like your setup but I admit I don't think I want to hit such a high number, more mid to low 200's I think at the rears & I'll have to learn more about the water meth thing you were talking about as I've never heard of it until just then.

the 3037 is external wastegate correct? does the heatshield still fit over the turbo?

I live in knox and alot of the officers are pretty clued in,

sorry for all the questions but I'd rather be sure that I'm heading in the right direction that blindly following my friends advice.

I also have a set of coilovers being put in soon and I'm ditching the 19's for some legal 18's.

you need to understand that turbos come with different configurations. My 3037 has a 0.63 garret rear housing that has an internal wastegate. The Heat shield might fit, but I have never tried to put it on. I left mine off, its cluttered down there and hidden enough as it is.

just be careful, those "nissan 0.63" rear housings are crap, and give bad results. You might be better getting the proper Garrett option, the manifold flange is the same, just the dump flage is different. But you'll need an exhaust upgrade anyway, so that won't matter.

I've got the same as mafia in a mid mount setup and couldn't be happier. It would be a bit pricey doing it at the moment due to the exchange rate but just keep an eye out for a turbo setup being sold which includes the turbo, lines and mani and get that.

Well hang on a sec... this guy is from Vic.

Now, i was pinned for a bigger turbo, GT30. The EPA knows the stock turbo comp/rear housing size no question.

They are not stupid.

This guy is obviously modding with this in mind.

Now that said, a hi-flow or similar is what you want, to get away with it easily without anyone knowing as there simply is no way to tell :thumbsup:

This will give you approx 250rwkw and it'll be pretty responsive so the best its going to get really keeping things looking stock.

You run a larger I/C, keep the stock airbox and overall, no-one will be the wiser and you'll pass EPA/Police checks as you're sticking to the 1 intake mod ruling

Also take into account - the noise flange will not pass the EPA. Adjustable valves are not legal unless they are ECU controlled from the factory.

So get rid of it and build a legal exhaust from the outset.

ash is correct... the only other things i can think of are:

cutting a hole in the bottom of your air box and making it a pod with a cai

painting your bigger injectors the same colour as stock

legal exhaust that flows is great, but expensive...

Yes I am from Vic, that's why I want to be as cautious as possible.

Ash, by "hi-flow or similar" did you mean getting my stock turbo hi-flowed or are there appropriately sized turbos?

The police do occasionally check to see if you have the stock ecu, so would a piggyback system like an Emanage be enough to get by or will I need a full power FC?

I'm all for painting parts black including all the piping if needed.

With the Exhaust I'm getting now since I've gotten all the peices would welding in a silencer be enough or do I need a 'proper' silenced system?

Get Nistune to make your ecu tunable - totally invisible and cost effective and will do what you need.

EPA open the ECU covers if they suspect a chip, so either way...

Realistically the PFC is a 60 second swap, so whilst illegal, its not a big effort to swap out

All this even though the tune is actually better emissions wise too, but hey, you cant argue with EPA laws from 1992

If anything, you're better off PFC and keeping the stock ECU that way you can swap back IMO.

Welding a silencer is legal, but it hurts power. Just get a good exhaust made and be done with it, its what i did.

RE: hi-flow, flowing the stocker. Uses stock housings, you'll never be able to tell.
