The text below has been lifted straight out of a letter from nissan I have just received. I assume all other guys with an ADM pre order will have received the email today or yesterday also. The kW quoted must be a typo, possibly 357 kW after reviewing the website and reading previous posts for the series II?

Subject: GT-R MY09 Updates

We have some excellent news from our Nissan Marketing Division that I am sure you will be pleased to hear which outlines the MY09 changes applicable to the Australian delivered GT-R’s next year.

Major changes of interest across all models include:

- Power increase to 375kw (up from 353kw, there is no change to torque)

- Increase in fuel tank capacity to 74 litres (up from 73 litres)

- Decrease in overall length to 4,650mm(down from 4,655mm, achieved via a change to the registration plate mount)

- Changes to Brake (stiffer brake hoses) and Suspension settings (altered spring rates) to further improve ride and handling characteristics

- Changes to alloy wheels (is outlined in attachment)

The improvement in engine power is the result of ECU tuning and engine craftsman’s accuracy and skill level gains.

As mentioned, I am sure you will be pleased to read this information and to have confirmation you will be getting the latest updates of this truly magnificent car.

The Website www.nissangtr-au.com.au has been updated to reflect these changes.

"The improvement in engine power is the result of ECU tuning and engine craftsman’s accuracy and skill level gains"

oh dear, someone unpossibly failed english. Skill level gains? wtf???

and how povo is the attached pic of wheels? Man, if someone at MB or BMW put that sort of shit out to potential customers, they would be fired on the spot. It's just atrocious. It's the sort of thing you get when buy shit from the yahoo auctions or the for sale section here! "Pics inside, no gutter rash!"

and yes, demand a 375kw MY09 GTR! :) Are you sure it's a mistake? it's not a MASSIVE jump...

The engine is pretty much hand-built by a small number of technicians for these things remember, so squeezing a few extra kw out by improvements in assembly technique now they have built a few is not unlikely...

lol, the changes are hardly ground breaking. 1 litre fuel capacity increase! omg 5mm reduction in length. lol. 5mm. you'll blow that if you use a number plate bolt with a large head. 4kw. well I won't knock that. every kw is a good kw. bit hard to feel 4 of them though when you already have 350 odd. and the alloy wheel changes.... again hardly earth shattering. I thought they actually had changed the wheels, not just painted them 1 shade different.

anyway, it's good to see at least they are getting the new changes. the fact that they are looking at 09 allocations though tells me it will still be some time until any land here to be delivered to customers. but it is some progress I guess.

Kazutoshi Mizuno (Nissan GT-R Head Engineer) is coming out to Oz late Feb to ensure the local cars are set-up to suit Australian road conditions.

So I'd say they are on-track for the current told delivery dates (starting March).

Sent a letter back to Nissan explaining their mistake, maybe should have sent a letter back demanding my MY09 has 375 kW!

..it probably HAS 375kW! Some of the dyno tests I have seen on youtube, particularly Motor Trend were talking around 505hp for the red stock GT-R they tested.

So I'd say they are on-track for the current told delivery dates (starting March).

Of course they will deliver at least 1 Oz car before April. If they don't they loose hundreds of thousands of dollars because they would have to compete on a level playing field with other importers under SEVS rules.

I would hate to explain to the board that I had missed that little rule.

will the australian model have the Launch Control?

rumours from news paper articles said that australian model will have it removed........

now ive heard rumours that australian models will have the launch control equiped.....

im confused............

its eiher its a YES or a NO.............

I got a call on Friday last week from Nissan saying my car is due for production Feb, shipping March and delivery in April (which was the original delivery date I was given). He did say I was one of the lucky ones however as they have reduced production by 50%, so some of the later scheduled cars will be delivered later than originally quoted.

Thanks Snowman.

I have similar confirmation.

Mine is also one of the 'lucky' orders due for build in Feb, shipping March and delivery in April.

There is a confirmed 50% cut in producton which will be affecting some of those previously scheduled for a Feb build date/April customer delivery from my source.

We must all be lucky, because that is the exact message I got yesterday.

They are only shipping 8 in the first month instead of the original 16 is what I was told.

Hmmm...maybe we should all go buy lottery tickets...seing we are so lucky and all.

Gibbo, Snowman + anyone else with orders.

Have you discussed aftermarket wheels and exhaust with your delears?

If so did you get the expected repsonse (no commitment to yes or no and caveats regarding direct cause of failure etc.) or did you get something more favourable?

I had an aftermarket exhaust on my subie years back that subaru aus weren't concerned about.

I suspect though that nissan will be very precious about mods no matter how small and that people with nissan dealer experience may laugh at my question!

Will probably end up throwing these minor mods on regardless but just curious as to others experience.

Might start a thread.
