Wow. I'm surprised this thread hasn't been locked or flaming given. If this was in the SA forum it would have been.

the name of the business was removed... so as long as people remain sensible with what they post (as they have so far) it can stay for now.

That is one thing I love most about the ACT forums... we don't have the forum nazi's on our butts for trivial things. I've been pulled up for some of the most pettiest things you can imagine in another (state) forum, so I spend very little time there now.

Thanks Shell... you're a legend and we appreciate your common sense approach.

ACT forum is the BEST!!!

Well for a starter i never EVER let a tyre shop do a wheel alignment for me. learnt my lesson the hard way. Took one XE Falcon to major brand name tyre shop for a set of 4, Wheel alignment as well. All feels good driving down the road until it seems the steering changes position whilst i am driving. got underneath to take a look. Morons stripped the bolt on one of the eccentric bolts so camber was changing constantly.

Now only suspension shops with a reputation will ever touch my steering

thanx hunni :D

for the record I don't like to moderate here at all here if I don't have to.... we're all f**king adults and can run this section ourselves... I'd rather peer moderation and if someone is being a wanker we can all bring them into line..

lubs to you all :(

I guess I didnt hide it that well ><

But thankyou Shell for not locking the thread, as i know others have been locked for less.

But apparently whats going on with me and my car has caught the attention of whoever is in charge of consumer affairs and not the word has spread to fullers body works...and i havent even called them yet. I'm going tomorrow to state my case with the people who did the repair work preveous to when i took it to get my tyres changed. I have it a good look over and found lots of defects...such as my rear seatbelts not being attached or my air pods not being secured...even though it is a apexi adaptor kit which HAD the brackets to hold them in place...

But I'm going to give them the benifit of the doubt that it was a lazy employee and that they are unaware of how...undriveable my car is. LOL the fuel gauge says half and the light has come on!! I'm going to let them discover that one on their own!!

Also if I'm being a wanker please tell me ><

Im not sure that we are getting the whole story here Paul, :(

Im assuming that youre saying that your car was repaired by a certain smash repairer before you went to get new tyres and you didnt check that their work was up to scratch until now...?

You have only recently noticed that the suspension isnt right and your first thought was that the tyre shop was to blame?

It may be worth your while to get an independant party (someone who doesnt know you or have any affiliation to you) to check on all of the repairs performed by the smash repairer and put down in writing all work that wasnt completed properly before taking any legal action towards either shop.

Please correct me if I am wrong. :D

I wont need any legal action currently at the smash repairer in question has agreed to resolve all the issues with my car, with the exception to the tyres, demister and fuel sender (as it was probably damaged before i got it, but it still works better then my last one). I very much doubt I will be taking legal action on anything, but if i did it would only be for the tyres and the tyres only. I know that it will be impossible to pin blame for the suspension damage on anyone.

I have taken it to someone and they said the same as me, that either it had preveous damage or due to the tension from a misalignment it snapped, but it would be impossible to determine which. Personally I've given up of the suspension, and im just getting it fixed.

It also seems that everyone i ask thinks my chances of getting replacement tyres are next to nothing. All i know is that i paid for an alignment that wasnt done, and because of how much they were out, the tyres have worn down. If they try to blame the damage i would ask they to explain why the preveous tyres i had on the front have the same wear pattern as the ones i currently have. If the wear was caused by the damage, that means it was on the car when they changed the tyres which would have been picked up if they did the alignment, and if the wear wasnt caused by the damage then it is because the wheels are out of alignment.

That is probably hard to follow, but basically saying the state of my suspension (shocks, tie rods, control arms etc) were in the same condition after i got my tyres changed then it was when i drove in the get them changed. But as much as it would seem to be more of a 'opps we stuffed up sorry' situation i very much doubt ill get any compensation what so ever, so im probably going to have to fork out another $500 for 2 new tyres for only a month of tyre wear.

I find it funny how a pizza shops have a higher customer code then some of these places...

Thankyou to everyone for the input, whether it was in an objective or constructive manner. It is better to hear both sides of the fence rather then stick to one as it will allow me to be better prepare if anything does occur :P

Thanks for clearing that up Paul :)

My offer still stands, if you need new tyres come and see me and I will look after you ;)

NP :D

There is a very likely chance I probably will have to, but atleast I will have peace of mind :)

    • The holdups last year were drivetrain related. I had the car out right after getting the bearing issue resolved. Third launch and the car didn't move after releasing the clutch. It had sheared all the engagement teeth off the 1st gear.    Thankfully no other damage was done. I set an aftermarket gear beside an OEM gear and found that the engagement teeth on the OEM gear were much larger and better supported. Looking through my bin of spare transmission gears I found that there are two types of tooth on the OEM first gears - the larger tooth and the smaller tooth. It looks like most aftermarket gearset manufacturers base their design on the smaller tooth. OEM large tooth left - Speedtek, OS Giken, etc or OEM small tooth right Decided to give that larger engagement tooth a try. Pressed the ring off an OEM gear and sent it to a transmission manufacturer here in the States. They did their "faceplating" operation with my synchro ring on the Speedtek gear.   I reassembled it, took it back to the track and promptly destroyed the gear itself.  I'll rebuild this and use it as a spare - thankfully just first gear and the countershaft are damaged beyond repair. Definitely disheartening but my welded on engagement tooth ring held up!  Moved to Speedtek's dog engagement design as the gears appear to be much stronger. So far they have taken much more abuse at the track. Also scored a Stillway lockout from the Netherands for super cheap. It's for some other RB transmission so it took a bit of fabrication to fit but honestly a very easy job. I also had to heavily modify the gates as they were very different.   Then for some reason at the last test and tune a silicon coupler below the throttle blew off and took out the radiator and fan. Thankfully it was in the burnout box and not down track. This car is really beating me up - I still haven't made a pass in it. Ran it through the gears many times on the street but it keeps biting me at the track.  Currently in the process of replacing the radiator and remaking the throttle pipe to remove the coupler and use a cast 90 and a vband. I WILL get this thing down the track...
    • Covers most of the above points really. There's a few exceptions but most just see driving as an irritating but necessary task they must complete if they want to get anywhere on time. Also see it as a good time to show their awesome multi-tasking abilities on their mobile and/or doing their makeup.
