MADGT4
Well Since the Beta is all over the net (if you look in the right places) I just wanna get some feed back if people have given it a shot or are using it at the moment. From all reports people are saying its WAY better than Vista. So lemme know... Im thinking about installing it as a 2nd OS and giving it a shot. krzysiu
Looks exactly like Vista with less strain on ram and processor. Used it for a bit. Found nothing compatable with it. Went back to XP. Do you remember which build it was? Build 7000 is supposed to be alot better with compatibility than the last builds. What issues did you have? (B1) MR_fanny
hmmm...if its nothing overly different to vista i dont think ill be trying it for a while then. i still have compatability issues with vista for my programs which is one of many things i dont like about it. babyskyline
I dont mind vista but would rather stick with something a bit more like xp. If its less proccessor and ram hungry it might be worth trying in a couple of months once they have worked out a few more of the bugs Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/250824-windows-7/#findComment-4345856 Share on other sites
Soul
looks and feels a lot like vista. only tried it on a fresh HD and was too lazy to reinstall all my stuff to use it for normal usage from the reviews it's supposed to be faster than xp and vista with mediocre hardware. Sl!m
They way I look at it.. Vista = windows ME Windows 7 = Windows 2000 Vista, like Win ME, should never have been released. iamhe77
I don't know why everyone is saying Vista is so bad. Are you guys using Vista 32 or 64? I have found that Vista 32 is pretty slow on the work Laptop, but 64 is damn quick on my home PC. I have no program compatibility problems with Vista 64 and it runs a hell of a lot faster than XP (32bit) did (XP 64bit was not usable). Anyway, if Windows 7 is all they are saying it will be (where have I heard that before?), then it will probably be worth the upgrade over Vista64. Nimmo
Widows 7 kernel is alot leaner than Vista's this makes the whole system run faster, Windows developers are saying that they want to make it even more leaner. All in all I think that most people will find that they will still need large amounts of RAM, faster processor(s), and better graphic cards with faster GPU's mainly because of the applications that will be installed on top of the OS. I think Windows 7 will still have issues such as third party dirvers and backwards compatability in regards to older hardware and software. Although if you had the spec's on your machine and really wanted/needed an application that Windows 7 didn't support you could always run XP or someother system in Virtual PC or VMWare. For personal use I use Vista and don't have any issues with drivers or compatability with older software, also my machine is quite specy so I dont see problems with speed either. As for the companies I support they use a range of XP and Vista for their worksations all with a mixture of 32 and 64 bit systems. This is where I see the real problems with Vista, every time a client says they are getting a PC with Vista on it we recommend at least 2GB RAM be installed, even then we see problems because of the applications they use. I'm not going to slag off Vista but even Microsoft admitted they made a big mistake with coding Vista, not only that but the majority of businesses are not moving over to it. (Some companies I know of are actually formatting them and install XP). But like any software whether it be an operating system or application; Windows 7 will have issues that's why Microsoft have patch Tuesday. I'm looking for a new PC at the moment, and might investigate Vista 64 if its suitable for video editing, gaming, etc. Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/250824-windows-7/#findComment-4358828 Share on other sites

On the topic of Vista, it got a lot better compatibility wise with service pack 1.
