Saw a pair of these Nismo AFM for GTR in the for sale forum.... (anyway is sold now!)... these Nismo AFM have the same size as those standard GTR AFM but claim to flow just as much air as Z32 AFM....... but i thought Z32 AFM flow better due to its larger size!!!

Am i right??? what am i missing here?

please let me know!

thanks guys

As far as i know nismo afms are just z32 sensors inside an original rb26 afm housing from what ive read, hence why they are a straight bolt/plugg in replacement, they are able to read more airflow due to the higher resolution, not because of the size of the afm.

Unfortunately the nismo and z32 do not have exactly the same internals, their mapping is slightly different (up to 5%) and this can make them more difficult to tune for big hp than z32. Nismo have included the graph of the differences in the box with their afms.

The problem with the standard afms is not that they have a restriction, but that the amount of air going past them is more than they can measure in 5v. the Z32 and nismo ones give a lower voltage for the same amount of air so their maximum airflow is higher.

Basically the nismo ones are great when then standard ones run out (about 280rwkw) up until mid 300kw because you don't have to change any intake pipes. Over that you need the larger z32 ones anyway.
