not sure if your a member on this site but maybe try PMing this guy some of your questons, i know its a 110 but cant be much diff.

Im thinking SR in my 110 depending on NSW changes in engineer crets.

just joined up to see pics and say gday. only just finished page 1 so far. that car is incredible!!

those flares are the exact vision i had for mandie. no shit. i didnt want to go the bolt-on route.

just finished the 7 pages. wow...... what an amazing piece of work!

loving the suspension and brakes too holy cow! i like his advice about the wiring. just give it to someone else! that's a great idea. at only $550, it is a bargain compared to a hair transplant :P

really happy you shared this thread thanks blk180 :-)

c110's and c210's are quite different and the same (depending on how you look at them)

c110's have different rear suspension and do not use the coil over shock absorber type suspension the spring and the coil are separate, other than styling and dimensions most of the other stuff has a large degree of interchangeability by the looks of it, though i am willing to bet that the rear suspension cradle is practically identical to the S130 280zx, Z31 300zx and HR31 passage (with IRS) so if you want a bigger diff and disk brakes and the ability to get an CLSD / VLSD center for your R200 long nose (on S2 S130's, Z31, HR31)

and if you want to talk to some people who have done RB conversions on C110's or S130's send me a pm on classic z cars (as im not on SAU much)

cheers leon. im gunna attempt to put the super-tight R200 LSD from my silvia(the doner car) into it. also s13 coilovers are on the cards for sure.

i have called upon the help of V8skylineMAN. he has given me good advice & we are devising some plans. will most likely be a team effort this one. woot!!

just gotta get to the new place so i can start this shit!!

you mean Mr convertible on classic z car. he has some neat stuff i was at his house just recently and me and soopakarr are going to try the R31 cross member for our selves. remember if you are putting the center from a short nose r200 in a longnose r200 you will need the bolts to be bushed out to 12mm for the center to fit. or alternatively use a CLSD from a C200 which is what i am doing.

nah not the v8 convertible fellah. it's the guy who moderates this forum and has done a whole bunch of wonderful things to c210s. and also rb engines so he's gunna be a big help and adviser in this whole thing.

ok so the spanners started spinning last weekend. i just got the net back on today so give me some time to get progress pics and a write-up happening. this is going to be documented in vlog style episodes and i will make a youtube channel. a friend of mine suggested the idea and i was thinking of doing it anyway. he's gunna shoot everything. i think he's getting a port folio together so everyone wins.

episode 1 will be the last time the old L24 gets fired up and a project outline i guess. ive been purposely delaying pulling the datsun engine out just so i can get that on film. it has such a nice sound and im going to miss it dearly. engine will most likely be for sale in the future to you guys. great engine and i would drive around australia with it without a doubt in my mind.

stay tuned peeps!

p.s. pretty freaking excited :-)

3 people. 8 hours. a carton of Caronas.

this engine looks amazing in this car. and you'd be surprised, we only had to turn the engine mount holes on the datun into slots to get it in. used the rb mounts that were in the silvia. fits perfect!

the whole day was shot in high-def time-lapse from multiple angles, simultaneously. footage looks awesome. just give us a few weeks to put everything together as we are trying to make a high quality production out of it.

next is wiring....

s13 coilovers (8kg spring) are in the rear now. it was literally this easy to make it work. i left all the settings identical to what was in the silvia. although my mates wanna see more low lol, i think its perfect.

i also bought that disc brake rear with the r230 LSD from alan/MY308U. went in absolutely sweet. the k-frame was already modded to fit the diff on all i had to do for the diff to fit was drill some extra holes in the 210 moustashe bar. i used the r30 one that was already attached to the diff as a template.

take my word right now though, you want to be taking that bar to somewhere with a drill press to get the holes done. as that bar is crazy-solid spring steel and it destroyed a corded drill and 3 drill bits before me and my mates gave in.

another cool note: i didnt know this until i got it, but that diff is actually 9 inches baby!..... around.. :P

tyre specs: 225/40 R18. fits nice and probably would foul on the guard if the coilovers had more than 2 inches travel. but they dont lol.

V8skylineMAN aka Jason came round today. as i have no idea about wiring really, i really needed his help! today he got the engine loom in and the ignition and rb20 ECU hooked up.

the starter motor now turns from the key! we just have to get the fuel system from the silvia over to the skyline and we could very well have a running engine. getting close.

this week i have been converting the front suspension to s13 coilovers. the coilovers and s13 knuckles are in. the silvia LCA's are too short and give the wheel a rather aggressive (+) camber lol. looks funny. so the plan is to try R33 LCA's which are the same but longer.

if that doesnt work, adjustable LCA's will be needed. and either way it's looking like im going to have to make half datsun/half silvia adjustable castor arms. cause they way they join onto the car are different.

coming together though woot!

i had a crack at doing the intercooler pluming myself today. pretty bloody proud of how it turned out. i just cut up the bits from the silvia's FMIC kit and made it work. all i had to buy was those big 90deg silicone joiners and that big u-bend.

i had no idea how to do this so i just winged it. never used a grinder before either lol. this was a 40 minute job!

the leftover piping from the silvia kit. ridiculous! -

255605_10150199027537335_711597334_7257981_1529134_n.jpg

just need to buy some more clamps and the piping is done. oh and have to pull apart and file the edges and shavings ect.

left to do:

-mount rad and FMIC properly (just sitting there at the moment)

-sort lca's and silvia/datsun hybrid castor arms.

-fuel system

-tailshaft

-speedo

-battery relocation

-remote oil filter and catch can

-throttle cable

peace.

Cam!!

Do make sure you get the ends of the pipes beaded (lipped) as no matter how much clamping pressure those hose clamps can do, they is gunna falls off!

Alsi as the engine does twist a bit in the engine bay, maks sure there is a bit of 'flex' in teh connectiosn (1 or 2 cm between the metal pipes)

Good work so far!

cheers brother.

yea flanges are on the cards. there's few things i hate more than cooler pipes blowing off! so annoying....

none of the pipes are hard against each other so a bit of super clutch kicking engine twist shouldnt be a problem. there's actually more silicone than metal!

    • That's a short. Find the short. It will be somewhere between that fuse and the headlight. Start by removing the plugs from the back of the headlight and dimmer switches, and measure resistance to earth. Supply side (power from the fuse) should have none. The other side should have resistance compatible with whatever globe(s) is there (which is relatively easy to say for a normal globe, perhaps not as easy to say for LEDs). Anyway, if you have very low resistance, you defo have a short. Then you just have to run the wiring like you're running the bowel of a dog (on the operating table) that has swallowed something it wasn't supposed to.
    • Hey guys, need help figuring out why my driver side (RH) fuse 15amp keeps blowing. The Driver Sides Headlamp is out, i replaced these a long time ago with LED ones that were working for 1-2 years. Now, the driver side light is out and i traced it back to a broken fuse. I replaced the 15 amp fuse in the engine bay and as soon as i flip the headlight on, it blows the new fuse. Any idea what's going on?
    • I found the same with Subaru’s.  I own and love the SG9 Forester, after that model 2008+, Subaru threw the ugly stick at all their line up and somehow managed to make them look worse with every succeeding year.  lol
    • It's something we all have to consider as time marches on. Also consider lifted rally MX5 conversion at that point.
    • I should be fine for a few more years, whilst I do have arthritis I also exercise and do mobility training every day to keep as fit and healthy as I can, military life, which is the actual cause of most of my joint issues, has set daily regimes, which I weirdly enjoy I also train alot smarter now, not really focusing on lots strength or puffy muscles, I'm more focused on maintaining what I have for my future older self, I actually train as much mobility now as I do exercising Check out this "simple" drill I have been doing daily prior to training now for a while now, this has worked wonders in my all round mobility
