"grooved dimpled (dimpled and slots) gold passivated, more rust resistant"

hi i received my rotors today, not what i ordered.

mine are not slotted

how do we fix this

kind regards james

Hi James,

That image I put on the 1st post of this thread was actually wrong as RDA put up the wrong one on their website. they have fixed it now.

Your grooved & dimpled rotors pattern should look like below. this is the correct one. If it is not let me know what they gave you...

post-328-1236668616_thumb.png

did they give you the plain one?

ok, you posted

Grooved Dimpled (Dimpled & Slots) - Gold Passivated - more rust resistance

and the pic of the rotors were slotted

the two types you had on offer were standard slotted and grooved dimpled slotted

and the price seemed to match

is it possible to replace these with the ones that were advertised

mayby it was just a mistake with the part numbers

so you wanted the gold passivated in straight slots with no dimples?

as far as I know RDA made the grooved dimpled gold passivated in curved & dimples.

the straight slotted ones will come in standard steel, not gold passivated. they did posted the wrong pic on their website when they change the overall website look, which I did ask them why the gold one looks different, and they have now replaced it with the right one, but since the new forum rule not allowing me to edit my posts after certain number of hours I could not replace the pic in the first post anymore.

the part number is correct. Rear R33 non turbo 7692G. The other one, 7692S, will come in 'white' stainless steel colour with straight slots and no dimples. not gold passivated.

what have you currently got at the front - is the curved shape grooves & the dimples causing a 'cosmetic' look issue ?

i just wanted slotted rotors,

i thought the gold passivated, grooved and dimpled rotors you advertised. were slotted

like the pics, but there not

slotted being the holes going through the rotor not the grooves or dimples on the machined face

i dont mind the mistake i just hope it can be fixed,

is it possible to get slotted rotors exchanged for the unslotted rotors i currently have

slotted being the holes going through the rotor not the grooves or dimples on the machined face

the rotors with holes going through the rotors is called a drilled rotor, not slotted. but RDA don't do them because they tend to crack under hard use with rapid heating and cooling cycle.

so they only offered (straight) slotted in steel finish, or the grooved & dimpled, which is actually the "grooves" name they were called by are actually curved shape slots. It's just like a marketing 'brand' calling curved slots as grooved, or sometimes they call it groovy.

I could ask but normally 99.99% they won't take returns if there is nothing wrong with the rotors, unless you had it for normal street use (not track use) and the rotors crack, as it will be a warranty return. Will have to ask them sometime tomorrow but I can't promise... as they haven't told me they make the gold passivated in straight shape slots like the standard slotted.

unless you're ok with the standard steel look (no gold anodised)...

just to add to rs73's comments, you REALLY don't want drilled (or also called cross-drilled) on a street car, they WILL crack under heat during street use. Yes the pictures are slightly differently, but at the end of the day, slotted is slotted, they will perform the same (the dimpled gold ones even better), both will allow the gases to escape and to increase the cooling area of the rotor.

I know its not any of my business but I wanted to chuck my 0.2 in.

ah, James. I got it now... It's called vents.

so the answer is no, RDA only have R33 non-turbo with solid rear discs, not vented.

There used to be an old part number RDA7690 but it is no longer available on the market.

and the dimension is a little bit different (hat height is higher and rotor total thickness is double the RDA7692)

so you may have a big problem trying to fit it in with your factory calipers, that is if you can still find RDA7690 around.

sorry for the confusion.

ok then sorry for the hassels.

you seem like a good seller and no-one else has had problems with you, Ive just come undone by those pics a bit misleading. but thats not at ur end.

i should have pm'd this rant

sorry mate

PS: the front R33 non turbo is made in vented rotors... (RDA7691)

not all cars have vented front to rear... my brother in law's Alfa Romeo 147 is an example, vented fronts, and solid rears.

ok then sorry for the hassels.

no, that's allright. always try to help. and this information here will also be beneficial for other people who wants to understand some industry terms in brake rotors.

sorry about the pics as well, as I am limited by forum's feature so I am unable to edit some old posts, unless I start another thread which is a bit of a hassle to do.

the groovies should help your brake cooling at the rears, better than just standard slotted, considering as vented rotors wasn't an option in the first place.
