Wakefield are running a 6 hour regularity event. Each team is 3-6 cars and the event goes 6 hours. Entry is 1500 per team (so 250 each for 6 cars)

Each driver nominates an expected lap time between 1.05 and 1.25. They then average this across the cars in the team to make an expected number of laps for the 6 hours

No cage is required for the cars in this event so it is perfect for people who want to give racing a first go.

Dear Competitor

Wakefield Park will conduct a new event in 2009 called the Wakefield 6 Hour Regularity. The concept of this event has been very popular in Victoria and SA with oversubscribed grids at the events. The event is being held on the 6th and 7th of March.

The Six Hour Regularity differs from the traditional 6 Hour race in that it is not an outright race and people can compete on a minimum licences of a AASA (Wakefield) Club Licences or CAMS L2 and can be done it street cars, track cars or race cars.

It has been a great way for clubs and groups of racers to team up with mates and have a fun weekend of motorsport.

This year’s Phillip Island event had a full grid of 50 teams and the Winton event this year also had a full grid of around 40 teams. You can check the Natsoft results below to see what type of cars have been running in this event.

http://www.natsoft.com.au/cgi-bin/results.cgi?26/10/2008.WIN

http://www.natsoft.com.au/cgi-bin/results....31/08/2008.PHIL

The Wakefield event will have a grid capacity of 36 teams which would be amazing if NSW could emulate the Victorian events and have a full grid in its first year.

The entry fee is $1,500 which includes up to 6 drivers/6 cars (minimum of 3 drivers/2 cars) a pit lane Garage and timing transmitters for all of the cars in the team.

There are minimum and maximum lap times and competitors must fall between the two for the event so the speed difference is not too great.

Min lap time: 1min 5 sec

Max lap time: 1min 25 sec

The Scoring system is designed so that the team with the lowest Final Factor wins the event.

The following is an explanation on how this Final Factor is arrived at and a description of the

variables that make up the calculation.

*Goal Laps

For this example, each team comprises a minimum of 4 competitors and each competitor

nominates a lap time in whole seconds that they believe they can maintain while on the circuit.

Those nominated lap times (in seconds) are averaged and divided into 6 hours to give a

theoretical maximum number of laps that could be achieved by the team. This number is then

doubled and rounded to the nearest whole number to take into account “Bonus Laps” to

arrive at “Goal Laps” for the team.

Example:

4 drivers Driver #1 nominates 1:15.00 = 75 seconds

Driver #2 nominates 1:20.00 = 80 seconds

Driver #3 nominates 1:19.00 = 79 seconds

Driver #4 nominates 1:12.00 = 72 seconds

Total = 306 / 4 = 76.5

21600 (6 hours) / 76.5

= 282.35 x 2 = 564 Goal Laps

In car timers or any device that can be used to regulate the drivers time may not be used during the event.

There is more info in the regulations on bonus laps and their scoring as well as minimum car safety requirements.

If you have any questions don’t hesitate to call the Wakefield Park Office

Regards

Matthew J. Ronke

Ok this may be a stupid question, but the event goes for 6 hours, with between 3 and 6 drivers, so thats between 2 and 1 hour on track each. Do you have to do your "stint" in one go or can you do a 20 min session then come in and send the next person out and do that for 6 hours?

If its sessions i'd be interested in a team entry

Just spoke to Adam at Wakie:

Can run the days anyway you like

Saturday starts at 9am is practice and Qualifying and each driver must do minimum of 6 laps to establish times

Sunday starts at 10am and is "Racing" Can run it any way you like as long as the team does 6 hours of racing there is a velcro stripe attact to your car which lets everyone know that is the car racing at that time. All drivers get up to 2.5hours driving time on the day.

If you wanted to do 20 min session bring the car in pull velcro stripe off put on next car and off you go for total of 6 hours that is allowed.

Total cost is $1500 and only includes one pitlane garage. All other cars in team will hire extra garages for $250 or carports for $150.

If your team does not do 6 hours of driving time it will be qualified as DNF (Did Not Finish)

Entry Forms and Supp Regs are available now on Wakefield Park Website so I am told by Adam :D

Hi,

Adam here from Winton Raceway, but sometimes Wakefield :D

The entry forms are not quite on the website, but will be within the hour.

I planned to compete in this event at Winton in 2008 in my R33, but didn't quite have it ready, instead I raced in my Falcon and I must say that it is one of the better events I have competed in.

I am planning on running a team of Daewoo's in the 2009 Wakefield 6 Hour. Its all a lot of fun and I highly recommend the event!!

I hope you guys get a team together, it would be great to see you out there.

Cheers

Adam

excited!!!! :P

Just a bit concerned about the $150 for a spot out the back under the sheds.... Bit steep considering is free every other time?!?! Can this be clarified please? Totally understand cost for garage but would of thought the backyard sheds should be best in best dressed.....

haha sif free carports. everything costs at race meets.

Looks like there is a bit of interest here, would be good to see 1-2 SAU teams out there because this is an easy way to do your first race

We have a team but have not finalised all the members as yet.

After missing the 300 last year this will be a must.

Looking at it, I and another possible member of our team will have to slow our GTRs down a bit to get in but semi slicks should solve that issue. 1:05 limit is a good way to keep the cars under control and the circuit a little safer.

Considering entry Ducan??

I said no to Duncan on the phone last night,,,but I slept on it and not such a bad idea.

I could do an engine change before-hand and do slower 1.08's till my tank ran dry.

More thought is needed and my spare engine turning up in time.

Neil.

shit if pete is coming along I guess we are going for outright. who have you got pete?

remembering that the goal is staying just above your nominated time, and no lap timers are allowed, I think up to 3-5 seconds off best times are the goal. so about 1.11 for my production car will do. no point thrashing it when it won't help you win :)

not sure about entry atm, I guess I am about 70%. Need to see how I go between now and then because I can't impact state round preperation. But if things are running nice this will be a good test.

As I said to steve today, if we can get 6-8 serious EOIs now I think we can turn it into 5-6 actual entries on the day.

if you guys work out your numbers and find your short, let me know, i can be ready in 2 months.

this would be fun and ease the pain of missing superlap. good chance to sort a car out without having to ring its neck. plus good oportunity to meet everyone, besides niel and duncan who i have had the pleasure.
