this is the day I fell in love with skyline's, I sat on the back hairpin and was just blown away with the grip the Gtr had out of the corner, will never forget it, pitty the brakes didnt last!

The Sierra's were serious competitors on par with the GTRs at Bathurst (only have the 1990 to 1992 greatest moments from bathurst videos to base that assumption on) if only the reliability was sorted out

Yes this is true they were only restricted in the years after they thrashed the assss of every one then still bet them and the other teams turned around and said ohhh come on guys let us play ....... or we will make it V8s only sadest day ever GOD live the GTR king of them all........You are most childs dream to own one .........

Actually there's many reasons that they went to the V8 format that they have now...One being the GTR but do you remember the racing format back then??? Timed races?? BORING!! They had dwindling spectator and competitor numbers and if you watch any bathurst from back in that time they had everything from GTR's and sierra's to suzuki swifts to make the field up! They had to do something to make it viable, so the V8 format was born....

If i remember rightly as well, the sierra was only running 8 inch wide rear tyres?? With over 500hp outta em and rear wheel drive on an 8 inch wide tyre i beleive that traction was a major issue...And if you watch any of those races from that era every slow speed corner the sierra is in wheelspin! Twas an awesome car though and ahead of its time as was the GTR!

I've got a DVD from 1991 of highlights of the races and i know exactly what your saying about the grip outta the hairpin's at Mallala!! OH MY GOD!! So awesome!! LOL!!

They invented the V8 supercars to keep the GTR out. Having your arses whipped and handed to you 3 years in a row does that to the Holden-Ford community. Throw a GTR in the ring today and it'll still whoop them. :(

What was this thread about again? ... oh yeah ...

So who is is keen to take there car on the track??? keep the hooning off the streets :)

I'm upgrading my brakes soon. Sometime after that I'd be happy to take the "wagon" for a few laps.

Engine service - check

Auto serviced - check

Oil/filter change - check

Good rubber - check

Brakes - to come

:(

generally as it hits 100deg C water temp, and probably 110 - 115 oil temp. Oil breaks down at 120deg C, and coolant will boil around 110 - 115deg C. As long as when you hit these temps, you get off the noise and cool it down for a few laps, you should be fine.

haha noo noo will definaly be keeping sober and eating my brain food before hand for this one lol. u gonna be there damo? this thread is too massive to retrace thru and find out :D
