I have been thinking of trying the voltage booster on my 044, rather than going twin pumps and putting more heat into the fuel. ( its already an issue on long drives.)

Anyone seen good results from them? How much more would i get out the fuel pump ifbits close to max flow now?

i have run a Kenne Bell Boost A Pump since 2004. i find it an easy way to solve the fuel flow challenge of our thirsty motors. especially nice as it only juices the pump while in boost.

given the rotary needs about 30% more air to make similar output to a piston motor, it also needs 30% more fuel. in addition, it needs to run on the rich side at higher power levels and then there's E85 which requires 30 to 40% more fuel.

there are many ways to get it done and most work. you can do multiple pumps, or one monster pump or swap in what is currently the best 21st century single intank pump, the Walbro 9000262 (gas) or 9000267 (E85).

if you are approaching 600 rw on E85 the Walbro may be marginal.

at 13.5 V the pump makes 389 L/H

at 16.0 it makes 568!!!!!!! more than enough for more than 600 on E85.

at 16 V the pump is happy BTW.

of course life can't be that simple. Kenne Bell just changed their BAP to a 17 V minimum... which is too much for the pump.

/////////update: the 13.5 V base model is back by popular demand, see post 11 in this thread/////////////////

other than an FYI on this i would like to ask the board, someone who knows electricity better than me...

would it be feasible to run the BAP at 17 V and add some sort of resistor so as to end up at 16.0? if so please add the specifics.

up to how many volts can the walbro e85 pump run safely ? I thought 14.4v was the limit

I coppied the above from rx7 forum. Intersting that the walbro 460 will flow 568 l/hr compared to 389 l/hr at 13.5volt

Walbro 460 and id2000's

Not sure on injector duty

They would have plenty left u like the pump...

Ive been thinking of trying a walbro, but not sure they flow much more than the 044 at high pressures.

What power are you at with your set up and are you having fuel shortage issues with the pump/ fuel line size?

448kw @ 24.5psi on caltex eflex (E70)

Pump is at it's safe max limit

I rekon lines can flow more if I had more fuel flow

WTF?!    One thing I'm pretty sure I justifiably pride myself on is knowing that everyone will have things they can teach you, and you're always going to find out that something you think you know turns out wrong - you just don't know what it is until you get there.   Just the bursting enthusiasm that comes with ADHD when you hit something that gives you dopamine dumps can come across like you think everyone else is wrong or don't matter. But yeah, I'm a software engineer by trade and also do tuning in weekends and 100% have long had a reputation for  quickly making connections when resolving problems or forming solutions that I've sometimes had to take people form a long walk from start to end to explain how I ended up where I did when it's seemed "too simple" when I've stated my initial case, and had the "WTF" type reaction when they've realised how much was actually considered haha.   My reward is that I get all the curly problems thrown at me.
    • Wives never seem to find things funny. Especially when they're trying to sleep, and you've found the new funniest thing ever. I've never seen someone be able to get try and be cranky with me, while they're holding back fits of laughter... 😛   Also, I tell mine it's payback anyway. She has BiPolar. So the household can get quite emotionally wild at times 😛
    • I'm not up to date on the latest, but for basic modifications like pod filter, lower springs etc you can get a modification permit at the time of inspection.  For more serious modifications you will need engineering.  Intercoolers used to fall into the mod permit rule but its been a long while since i looked it up.   Either way you will be able to get it registered, just a case of $300 vs $3k .
    • Hi everyone! I’m the new owner of a 1996 R33 GTS-T, I’ve purchased this car over from Queensland and brought it to Western Australia and I’ve found that there is a hole cut out in the engine bay for the FMIC that enters into the wheel well (fender liners are in the boot). For anyone that has had to get their car over the PITS here, will this be a major issue?
    • Yeah I've spotted this one too, whenever it's lotto superdraw week and I'm browsing car sales dot com for my new ride They must be dreaming, maybe it's worth 150k for the link to Brock?
