Hey Guys and Gurls,

I'm just after a general idea on who you's all use for your insurance on your cars. I'm finding out the hard way that justcars is possibly the only one that will insure me. I will have my full license in one week, i am a female and im under 21. Just cars want like 3000 to insure me for comprehensive.

Please let me know what company you guys use.

Cheers

you are 21, driving a turboed import, the kind the 'hoons' drive and get stolen a lot.

welcome to the world of high insurance

try and Famous Insurance a call, your choices will be very limited due to your age and the car

Famous is very good and there rates are pritty good in comparison to just car my old white r33 gtst was insured for $15000 with a $1000 excess and i was able to pay by the month and the premium was $2600 unlike just car which was $3000 and pay up front with like a $2500 excess and i was 21 and only been fully licened just under 12 months. Now i did write that car off to a simple misjuding traffic and i couldn't have been happier with there service. There first question was i alright and they had the hole thing sorted in a week and half and i had my money.

ill give them a call tomorrow, thankx i think its stupid how just car you have to pay up front like yeah ill pull 3000 out of no where

Just remember everyone is different and prices vary alot, so no point posting what you all pay.

You'll find jci and famous willbe your only hope.

If youcant afford insurance u can't afford the car. What I would suggest is jci third party fire and theft as it can cover upto 10k. You save a bit of money on that cover, when u get older and you/the risk is improved, price will reflect that.

^^^ +1 re "Famous" improves 'Competition'

"Famous" is trying (with some success) to eat into the "Just Car" market. They've forced "Just Car's" hand with pay-by-the-month option and good luck to them and you.

Paying 20% of your car's value in Insurance Premiums is steep I know. Tez

-1 for famous with experience. $1000 basic excess (last year was $600) $1000 age excess, $1000 import excess, $1000 hpv excess, $1000 single vehicle excess, $1000 stolen vehicle excess, $3156 per year comprehensive premium, i was with them last year, they wont reduce my premium even when i made a mistake and only put 20% no claim, when i'm up to 50% this year. Read your policy carefully, they wont cover any stolen claim if its not parked within 500meters of your house. also no one else can drive your car, not even my parents who never had a claim.

They are a rip off.

i'm going to just car because they cover everything without the confusing lingo, they give me cover on my extra parts i have put on the car without even asking, just by me saying what extras thee are and they increased my cover to cover what ihave spent on extras, famous didnt.

also $1800 per year premium with only $500 worse excess, covers mmy car wherever in australia it is, pluss they cover me for $16200 where as famous only coverd how much i payed for the car, which means if the car is ridden off or stollen they will pay for new performance parts by giving me cash. and just car wanted to negotiate to winme as a customer, famous didnt even bother, even though famous is getting $900 commision for a $3000 premium as an agent.

Just Car also offers pay by the month..

Not for the first year you are with them though. The first payment is for 12 months and then you have the decision to go to 'pay by the month' after that.

For shits and giggles phone up NRMA for car insurance. Long story short, it was double the premium in comparison to Justcar, using my circumstances :3some:

Shannons are pretty good, provided you have a garage :3some: . Unfortunately, I don't lol

Really? Last I heard was that towards middle to end of this year they no longer will have that arm of gio. So while you has your renewal now, next one won't as they would have stopped by then. Call them and find out, cause I got this info from a friend in the industry....

Reminds me rhino (?) insurance, they took alotof business away from the specialty insurers, then their parent company changed their underwriting guidelines and coulndt cover many of the imports.

try e-car im with them had a lil crash wile back got sorted in about a week but think the messed up with me price as its only $550 fully comp. $450 xces.worth haven a look i got r33 gtst 96. and only 20.

Try Lumley Special Vehicles

PH: 133 578

I'm not even going to compare what I pay with others, as I'm an old bastard, and evryones situation is different.

But they are cheaper than Just Car, and they give you your own choice of repairer (Just Car don't). Only thing is you must park the car off the street, doesn't have to be garaged, driveway is OK.

If you have your full license they should accept you I think.

double check your policy exactly. e-car doesn't cover private imports....

they only cover Australian delivered cars (a few r32 GTR's, the r30 and r31 GXE and silouette). They don't cover r33's at all!!!

when i did the estimate online your price sounds like your insureing a silouette, and if this is correct, then your not covered at all.

I called them to see if they could cover my 96 R33 gtst, they didnt even ask for an age or anything, they just said they dont cover them at all....
