Sorry Steve had to laugh at that one.

Ive been with Just Cars since ive owned my car.

Had to make a claim a year ago and everything was taken care of while i was out of the country. Came back and the car was fixed and waiting.

Also the mods list on my policy is longer than a rap sheet on a Rosemeadow rioter, and at 2k for my premium i think i have done well.

But as Chris said everyone is in a different situation and honestly cant compare one policy to another. Unless you are twins and own the same car, have the same driving record and live in the same house.

I'm with GIO, and I just renewed with them.

Even got them to lower the price even more then they already had...

I'm covered for over $23 000 agreed value, but with EVERY little piece modified on my car listed.

I can park it on the street, do what ever in it, my excess if an unlisted person drives it is like $5000... But other then that, not overly too bad.

I went with them when I was 20. This is my second year.

I was originally with Famous and WILL NOT go back there ever again.

Bastards hiked my premium up, even though my NCB got better!

Went from car had to be parked further then 500m away if not in my garage, to must be parked over 1KM away if not in my garage to be covered, excesses went up.

Told them to shove it where it fit.

Just Cars were pretty much a bunch of ass-wipes when I tried to deal with them.

Next time I renew I'll be looking at Shannons or Lumley Special Vehicles.

Shannons WERE going to insure me, even though I was under 25 due to a few good things for me... But the premium was still a little high, and the guy even told me to go with GIO Custom Car.

But they are cheaper than Just Car, and they give you your own choice of repairer (Just Car don't).

Not quite :( They give you two repairers to get quotes from. But you can also get a quote of one of their repairers and one from wherever you want and send those two in.

So there is the option of going to a "repairer of your choice", but they will then obviously pick one of the two quotes you sent to them.

Yeah so it's not really repairer of your choice, they will pick the cheaper of the two, which will more than likely be their repairer.

When I had an accident (not my fault), I didn't have to get any quotes, just had the car towed to my regular panel beater (who's bloody expensive) and they arranged for them to repair it no questions asked.

Word has it that GIO will keep renewing current policy holders, but not take any new business. If you cancel your GIO custom car insurance, and then want to go back, they wont insure you.

They are phasing it out :(

double check your policy exactly. e-car doesn't cover private imports....

they only cover Australian delivered cars (a few r32 GTR's, the r30 and r31 GXE and silouette). They don't cover r33's at all!!!

when i did the estimate online your price sounds like your insureing a silouette, and if this is correct, then your not covered at all.

I called them to see if they could cover my 96 R33 gtst, they didnt even ask for an age or anything, they just said they dont cover them at all....

yer policy is write. ive made a clame and got repaired straight away.

in my experiences with insurance the only two companies willing to cover me were famous and just car. being 21 with a 'grey listed' import and a minor claim added to my history it didn't leave me any other options.

nrma, aami (who own just car anyway), gio etc apparently don't cover a range of imports such as skylines (well, i am not positive if this is entirely true, maybe just because of the age factor). and unless you are a 50 year old with erection problems, shannons car insurance aren't any help either.

i have been with famous car insurance for half a year now, paying $240 a month. the truth is they have smaller excess, smaller premiums and the option to pay monthly which to me is a BIG upside as compared to forking out $2k+ in one big go. the high premiums we pay now are just something we have to put up with. just car is reliable enough but they take advantage of their cover to younger drivers by forking up the prices. but hey that is just my opinion. :D

LOL

Thats why they are very succesful in the Australian insurance market and always make a profit !

Well since everyone is giving there 2 cents - im with just car - im 18 - no licence suspentions - no claims - drive a R34 - and my premium is $1500 - with a 2700 exec - the trick is, befor you go straight to just car use there online quoter http://www.justcarinsurance.com.au/online-quote-terms.asp and then ring them up and give them the quote number - i saved myself 300 buks by comparing the quote i got from the net and the quote the guiy from just car gave me on the phone!! work that out!!!

but yea - just car are fanastic in my opinion - they cover my rims ($1500) and they insure my car for 20,000 every year and if they try to drop the value i just ring up and tell them to increase it and they do - they have done it twice now for me with the same premium. also they dont care what mods i put on aslong as i tell them and put it on my policy :D

Good luck!

So your saying r34 non turbos never depreciate? ha.

give it time son, it will.

dont think i said that at all chris ;) - all i said is i get them to bump up the price every year because i can.....withouth any further charge - wouldnt you rather having your car insured for more then its worth if its not going to cost you extra?

Maybe, but I do know what my car is worth, and in fact now mines prob over insured.

But, have you read your policy wording? What does it say, we will pay out agreed value or market value - which ever is lessor at time of a claim?

Have a look and see.

just letting you guys know

nrma

have a similiar thing to just cars third party fire and theft.

from memory a quote for an r33, series one, few mods, from nrma for third party fire and theft was about a k.

good alternative to justcars,

yes ive been with justcars,

yes ive been bitten :P

Hay Chris, I had a look, your policy must be diffrent because from what I understand from my policy booklet (which is where I scanned the information from below) is that the agreed value is what the insurance company and myself have agreed on before the policy started, and is there for set in writing and cant be changed half way through the policy.

The only time the insurance company can allow market values to change the agreed value is at the beginning and the renewal of each policy – they can’t change the value half way through – well Just Car cant anyway – you insurer is probly different.

So yea, i sitck with what i said befor - Just Car has been pretty sweet so far :P

Agreed value isnt what you agree on, its what the company agrees to pay you out at the time of a claim :P Thats the correct term in the insurance industry.

Market values fluctuate all the time through out the 12 month contract.

Some insurers, on their policy wording will actually state, we will pay the agreed value or market value at the time of a claim, which ever is lessor. And some others will say we will pay out what the vehicle is worth at the time by their assessor, So even though your paying a premium on X amount sum insured, you maybe subject to a payout of Y amount.

My insurer isnt JCI either.

grr thats just confusing now :P - ill ring them up later because i have to change my rego so ill ask them then and get back to you - its stupid tho because if what you say is correct - why dont they say it in the policy booklet? because i have read that thing back to front - when i 1st baught the car and when i had to renew it!!

Just Cars do, do agreed value cover, but I wasnt sure if they were one of the companies that do the agreed value or market value at time of claim, thats what you should check, but by sounds of it you should be right mate :P

Perhaps it was because I wanted full comprehensive but for my R33, series two, with only wheels and small sound system NRMA wanted over $4,500 and didn't ask if my licence had or had not been suspended, which it has. Justcar had all of my details and wanted $2,200.

Next time your insurance is up phone Justcar again, I will eat my shoes if NRMA beats the price of any of my insurance
