Torn Cable In Airbag Remnant

My 95 s1 r33 gtst came with a momo + boss kit and all was well but the wheel was as bit ratty, so i got me a nardi and...

The wheel didn't align properly (different stud pattern) so i took off the boss kit to realign the splines. But when i put everything back i realized i'd stuffed up because the horn wasn't working and turning lock-to-lock made this horrible sound, like snapping cartilidge.

Anyway, i traced the sound to inside the left over bit from the airbag (see pick): the cable that's inside the unit must not have been wound back up properly when i realigned the splines and so turning the wheel lock-to-lock probably tore it and now the cable is broken. Chewed up. Stuffed. Not quite right.

Can i simply leave this srs unit/remnant/whatever off and splice the horn wire directly to the connector that the airbag unit would've plugged into? Or will this have some other effect - like randomly activating the hicas or something? Also the airbag light on the dash is now always lit (was off previously) which is annoying and clearly down to me snapping the cable.

Any help would be appreciated
