hi guy's

Just been thinking about my RB30 build and what kind of turbo to use. So i have come up with the idea of using a holset turbo, they seem to be used in shed loads of US diesel trucks and kick out a fair amount of power. but I would like to find out if they are any more robust then garett tubs?

Just an idea for being different.

Cheers

Hi There,

I say good choice! Good on you for daring to be different! I have been researching this for some time now and seems a good option.. can see plenty of boost of lots of people use them in the states on petrol cars with very good results.

I expect lost of people wil also slate the idea as it's different and it doesn't say garret on the box.. I am due to be purchasing mine early next month. I am going for an HX40 Unless you are going for some monster power that's probably all you will need. Try some US forums and you might get some better info.. I posted here about it a while ago and not too much response. Can let you know how I get on with mine if you like.

Good Luck

Lee

they look to be a great turbo but even better is the borg werner... sp??

the hx35 would be my pick though and neither of them is small enough to low mount. the hx35 is good for 300rwkw anyway and should bring on full boost fairly early.

I think there was a thread on this in the forced area..

At work we fitted a HX35 to a 10L engine a while back..

works great on it too! I think there are 7(?) varieties of it.. 5~7 compressor blades and different turbine options... (I think?)

Good strong construction.. lots of parts, after all, its a tried and prooven turbo on a diesel, should work fine on an RB!
