And ppl wonder why police lose heart so quickly when on the job with shitbags/lyers jumping in the stand and their lies carry more weight then the truth of the Police officer. Its a SAD sign of the times we live in:rolleyes:

I would encourage this because the cop that impounded this guys car seem to be an arrogant asshole on an ego trip, prob even jelious that m3boy drives a bmw and who would do it again, maybe even to you roy. If m3boy stand up for himself in court and states his case y his car shouldnt be impounded and gets off, the cop in question would think twice before doing it again to another person. Getting your car impounded for doing 90 in a 60 zone is total bs.

What would 99% of road users think if two cars took off from a set of lights accelerating hard, one car stopping at

30km/h over the limit, the other coninuing to accelerate.

Why did he stop accelerating... was it perhaps becuase the police turned on their lights, or the TT Soarer was pulling away so called it quits, he was 30km/h over the limit. I dont know, i dont know the whole story, neither do you so assuming ...

the cop that impounded this guys car seem to be an arrogant asshole on an ego trip, prob even jelious that m3boy drives a bmw

...could perhaps be so far off base.

and who would do it again, maybe even to you roy.

Fine, if i put myself in that situation then get out the vaseline. If i feel as though the penalty is too extreme then i would contest that, not the integrity of the police.

For all we know the officer genuinely believes he was racing, (like i said 99% of other road users would claim thats what it looked like) So think twice about what, booking someone for racing on the street.

Whats more likely is that if the accued gets up in court and lies to get off, this will just tick off the the officer to the the extent that the next person he sees doing silly, perhaps even trivial antics on the road may get it both barrels...

roy you seem to portray that cops are always right and always tell the truth!! And none of the speeding fines they hand out has to do with having a quota of revenue they have to get the target of :D

There are so many situations where cops stretch the truth.

Do we even need to bring up all the bullshit canarys they hand out?

You guys are just so funny, really.................

Just because you like driving fast, racing each other, and having heaps of fun on the roads, you call the police idiots and ass holes.

I bet if you get your car stolen, you might think a bit differently about the police if they caught the thief and recovered your car for you.

Grow up kiddies. you want the police to respect you, why the hell should they. Any police officer reading this thread is going to nail the next one of you he sees breaking the law.

Do you people seriously think the cops don't read these threads? they like cars as well you know.

And NO, I am not a cop, I am an engineer.

Canarys and speeding tickets are not quite the same. And are you claiming that the ppl getting done for speeding werent speeding? Quota or not, whats the point, the difference is only the fact that perhasp 40% of speeding gets caught instead of 20%.

It may suck that the rules are what they are, but thats the way it is. And NO a cop is not always right because he is human, but he isnt something less then a human simply because he is in the Police service

There are so many situations where cops stretch the truth.

Im almost scared to ask... but how do you know?

Quickest way to have the car released, if the car is not registered under the drivers name, the registered owner did not have good reason to believe that the motor vehicle was being used an offence - write a letter to the LAC. If uncertain, have a solicitor do it.

You will still need to pay towing and storages fees however before the vehicle is released.

Alternatively, you can have a letter sent to the LAC stating that the vehicle confiscation causes 'undue hardship' which directly effects your employment or well being.

Failing that, you can file a case at your local court to be heard. Or you can have the matter raised with the Administratrive Decision Tribunal.

By the time you have all the paperwork processed and cut through all the red tape, the 90 day confiscation period is over.

Also when you appear in court for the illegal street racing and win the case, you don't have to pay for storage or towing fees.

cops not being my best friends is taken from previous experience with them, where i have been singled out by them for bs.

fine if they read this thread, who cares, its called freedom of experssion, if cops gave out any respect they would recieved it back from me.

roy you seem to portray that cops are always right and always tell the truth!!

You seem to portray them as the enemy...

Before this turns into a slinging match, my point was go ahead and try and get you car out of the impund, but dont assasinate the police officer/service as a means of doing it.

There is a whole world out their outside of cars, and the police have a lot to do with letting us enjoy it.

its called friends who have proved cops lied, and proved it in court many a time and got off on their chargers by it.

roy if u lived in victoria with the 3km/h tollerance you would have a different opinion when u get pinned $165 and 3 points for doing 54 in a 50 zone!

3 times friends to court got off after they proved the cop that booked them had no actual proof / had no evidence to back up the chargers!

the cops 'estimate' on one instance 800 metres away from 10 cars behind proved nothing. Was actually laughable the cops reasoning

they were speeding maybe 10km/h over but when the cops try to pin dangerious/reckless driving, street racing etc along with it that when they go to far. I dont mind paying a fine and loosing a few points if i was speeding by a few km over the limit, but when they try pin all other crap on you and try take your license off you just because they are on some ego trip thats when you stand up and say piss off see you in court.

It does seem that there is some conflict between certan police and modified car owners. It doesnt seem right, and sure as hell isnt really helpful to either party.

Brings me back to my ealier point, i think when an officer genuinely witnesses speeding etc, and it gets thrown out of court, then its taken personally as a blight on their character. Especially when the officer is made out to have come up with fictitious claims about speeding when they were actually speeding. Perhaps comes back to knowing something doesnt mean you can prove it.

So perhaps this only escalates any animosity that mayy exist between the groups, which is not a good thing... hence the reckless driving fines etc etc.

Apart from keep my noise clean there isnt much more i can do though...

and for the record i have no problems with police, someone posted earliers about giving respect to get it... well who should be taking the first step in order for it to be reciprocated?

I live in Victoria, and drive every day. I have had zero points now for over four years.

Six months ago the cops pulled me over, said I had an illegible front numberplate. He was quite right about that actually.

Driving sensibly and within the law is not difficult, and I drive a modified car as well.

Some of you guys have a real attitude problem, that is all it is.

And you are like 35 aint u??? ofcourse cops dont pick on u even if u drove the most modified car in victoria!

I am 25 but still look young when i shave (for work) so they always stop me to do random checks thinking i am 20 or sumthing and always ask where my p plates are before they check my license, and i am black so of course i must have stolen the car for just commited a robbery or sumthing so they just have to always check me a few times a week just to make sure i havent committed a crime that week. :D

Little do they know that i am a mechanical engineer and work for 1 of the biggest companies in the world and get paid shitload more $$ than they do.

INASNT dont be like that. you are 25 years old and have a good job? man. being a police man has a profession also.

im not white neither and sometimes i also get picked on by the law just because of my appearance. use your common sense to overcome the differences. im sure you know. just put your self in their shoes.

M3boy, you speed you pay the price. if they didnt get you this time, there will be the next time and next and so on.

my best advice is to tell the truth, you are guilty as hell and if lie about it, the matter will just get worse no matter who you are.

im sorry this happend to you. but life goes on mate
