do all jap cars have 180km/h speed limiters eg: nm35 axis , and how are they removed, do jaycar make a kit, they make about everything else ???? :cool:
No just cars intended for the Japanese domestic market. In manuals you just cut the appropriate wire but for autos you need a device such as my GReddy Speed Limiter Cut Controller ($160 roughly) which will do the job. Jaycar don't appear to make one. You can get the speed limit removed with some major re-chips or of course with an aftermarket computer.

If you are going to install a piggyback ECU, I believe that the eManage Ultimate can override it.

still , in the pipeline at the moment cam , fingers crossed , waiting on some shares i've cashed in, got out on financial advise it was going to crash, down to the solicitors now , maybe a couple of weeks , then i'll have a definate ?????? :P

Well your mate's 33 coupe is probably wire 53 but I'm sure a search in the Skyline section will confirm that. I had a quick look at the pinout diagram for Stageas (you'll find it in the DIY section under ECU) and the most likely suspect is the wire on pin 29 which is where my greddy speed cut thingy is connected. In my car I hit a wall at 180 (it could vary according to how accurate your spedo is, what size wheels and tyres etc) but since putting the whatsit on the ECU i have had 180 - 190 at the Taupo A! GP track and just over 190 at Manfield. I was looking forward to Pukekohe next month where i should have been able to get well over 220 on the back straight but unfortunately my car is no more. Have to wait til i build my next one.

I guess that the needle would have hit 195kph if there were numbers that far.

I think that only applies to maybe R33s or newer, I know the r32 autos still work with the wire cut, 52 or 53 is the one :D green and yellow?

Thanks mate! and nah i wont be worrying about my mates 33, although he will start asking questions if we do a midnight run out to the beaches and i fly past him at 200+ lol :D

I dont quiet get why people want to remove the speed cut on their cars.....

180 is plenty fast enough as it is(havnt even hid speed cut in mine) . Plus its bad to push it that hard and spin out top gear.

Isnt it all about how fast and how much it throws you back into your seat...

Removing speed cut is not a necessity for the road (unless you are in Germany) but it does not do any harm - you can do 180 in third and in fourth 200 is not really revving hard. BTW I don't suggest trying these speeds on public roads and not anywhere if you haven't done some basic improvements to your suspension and wheel alignment - the standard setup could have you struggling to keep it on the road at illegal speeds. It is a necessity for track days unless you like being passed by slower cars that don't have speed limiters.

thats why i want the speed limiter removed for track days , plus i've had vast experience with advanced driver training in the past so im im quite capable at handling high speed driving , NOT IN ANYWAY WOULD I CONDONE DRIVING FASTER THAN THE RECOMENDED SPEEDS ON OUR PRISTINE ROADS !!!! ;)

    • Finally got shipping number for the intake and throttle body, shipped by UPS, so "should" be in my hands sometime next week, fingers fracking crossed

    • Each to their own I guess  Me, I put just as much time into cleaning inside of the cars as I do on the outside As for getting wet, it is really no different than steam cleaning the carpets at home, apart from the cars carpet dries alot faster than the house, again, I only do it in the hotter months and leave the car opened up for a few hours As I only do it yearly, it is just before I do the diff and gearbox service, so I clean the carpets, then it's up on stands, wheels off, service, clean the undercarriage,  grease the bushings and do a nut and bolt check on everything  Disclaimer: I typically had all the time in the world to kill when I was working 馃ぃ, so spending a full day or 2 cleaning, serving and "looking at stuff" was,  easily achievable, and a fun mental therapy day As for time to kill, I retired last Wednesday, so apart from my physical training, my days are filled with lots of random jobs around the house and garden...."Idle hands are the Devils something something" I am also buying a new house sooner rather than later, I'm actually looking at a potential property tomorrow, I'm looking forward to getting a car hoist as I'm starting to get to old to crawl around under a car, I can only imagine all the undercarriage cleaning and looking at stuff when that gets set up
    • Yeah, I'm not interested in wetting the carpets, and I don't care about brown dirt/dust that lives deep in the pile or underneath. It's not like I crawl around on them in my birthday suit or eat dropped food off them (because there is never any open food in my car). The seats are alcantara (cheap Chinese imitation alcantara, to be sure!) with barely 1" of foam pad behind the surface. That's not getting wet either. Any car that I would be happy to get the interior wet, I would not care to put the effort into.
    • We have one that holds 2.8L of water. On floor carpet that hasn't been touched in 2 or 3 years, will take a minimum of 2 fills of the tank to do a bedroom, and that's going AROUND the bed.   In the cruiser, I used an ENTIRE 2.8L tank, just on the front passenger footwell. But it had some fungus growing, and had been full of mud from being used as a 4WD for many years. I can do that floor again, and it will still pull mud out. However, the water now only looks dirty, not pitch black and leaving full sludge in the bottom of the tank it sucks back into. Oh, and, this is about a $1500 unit.
