Hey Guys, New to this forum. My Name is Sumala im 19 from Bunbury. At the moment I have a mitsubishi Lancer... I know, I know. Neway looking to upgrade. I don't know much about cars but always willing to learn more. I am juggling up the 180sx and 300zx. Love the 300zx being a 6, but finding they are quite rare, and wanting the 2+2 manual, even rarer. I am quite piccy and want it to be in prestine condition. So next looked at the 180sx, there seem so be a bit more of a range out there, plus a lot of them have been babyed, if you know wat I mean. Neway if nebody can help me out that would be great. Cheers.

btw. Im only interested in the turbo versions

doubt the 180's have had a easier life.the ones you've seen have probably been newer than the zeds.

180's would be cheaper to mod and parts support would be heaps better than the z. labour is cheaper as well. have u seen the engine bay of a z? very tight.

but as an everyday car i reckon the 180 would be a better choice. but having owned 2 S13 SR20det's, the skyline i own has been the best car so far

I've had 2 Z32's, nice cars when everything is working right. If you buy a cheap abused one then you will be paying twice the purchase price to get it sweet. Very easy to get good power out of the turbo ones too, exhaust, pod, boost, 'cooler, chip and you are looking at around 230-250rwkw :)

I've found that the cops don't bother the Z owners as much as other imports, no idea why though.

Your only 19 so im assuming you wont have enough $$$ when something goes wrong on the 300ZX. Get the 180SX instead easier to maintain and mod, although a TT Z will blow the doors off a 180

300ZXs are owned by a wider demographic/age group than the silvia. More older owners > less cops bother them.

Make use of this advantage if you can, by checking if it's been owned by an older dude (like me hehe).

IMHO, it was one of the best designs of the 80s. It is a heavy car and can use some juice!

A pristine, manual 300zx 2+2. A big heavy, hard-to-work-on GT car with a history of unreliablility VS a 180sx, a sr20 based sports car with good handling and good reliability?

The answer is clearly the 300zx. Desite its problems the 300zx is a good car. The sr20 is a horrid engine and 180 is a ricers dream
