Im looking to upgrade my front dump pipe for my r32 gtst. im not looking for much more than 200rwkw once im done modifing it. ive already a 3" cat back and hi flow cat. is there any great difference (beside price) between the just jap split front/ dump pipe ($269) and CES Racing twin dump/ front pipe ($675)? is there really that much difference in power/ response for a $400 difference in price?

Hmmm seems that ces is one of the best dumps you can buy because of the looooong split between the gate and exhaust wheel, if my memory serves me then the justjap are pretty close together.

Just quick if anyone knows how much are the twin rb26 dumps from ces????

yes that is correct, i just cant justify spending that much more money on somthing that may or maynot produce much more power. at the end of the day either one will be better than stock. adam

i got the CES split front/dump pipe on my er34....cost $550 mild steel

as to whether or not there is any difference between CES and just jap....probably not all that much

but i was happy paying for an aussie made product from an aussie company :D

sorry for the small hijack of this thread, but do r32 rb20det CES dump pipes fit onto rb20det cefiros? i want to get this pipe but want to know 100% sure if they fit the cefiro like they fit the r32?

Yep, they certainly should do :(

I used the JJR Split Dump/Front Pipe on my R32 GTS-T and was very happy with the quality and performance.

On a hoist it took about 15-20 mins to fit up.

However, as others have said, for the power level you are chasing, you could also get away with the bellmouth dump/front pipe that Just Jap offers and save yourself some dollars that you can spend elsewhere.

CES is a waste of money, why dont you just buy a propper jap made one or even a JJR one? 200kw isnt something you would use a 600 odd dollar dump pipe for. My brother payed prob more than that for his CES dump 3 years a go or so, and it didnt seal against the turbo properly. The tomei dump he has now is far better.

just my opinion.

IMHO - stick with the stock dump. Save the money, buy and ebc and increase the boost.

a bigger dump will increase torque by a little bit and might give you .5psi extra. But hey, thats just my opinion.

Not wanting to hijack the thread but I noticed this one (link below) on ebay (AM Performance) and after doing a search on this forum couldn't find anyone or any feedback on whether they're any good.

ive already got an EBC 12psi, k&n. dump then intercooler, then rb25 hi flow, so bell mouth from just jap. i'll put the savings into an intercooler set up.

dont get me wrong, i try to buy aussie owned products, but money is an issue here

To be dead honest here, a bigger dump pipe will only give you around 2-3 extra rwkw if youre lucky. I've had first hand experience.

With a catback and a pod, it made 173.xx rwkw. I changed to the split dump and got exactly the same. Ok i MIGHT have seen .5kw extra i dont know.

But when i changed to a Tomei Dump($500) i got 175rwkw. I only saw a tiny increase in torque and maybe .5psi. However it did have an angrier growl at WOT compared to the split/stock dump.

My tuner laughed at me and said "Told you so". Reason why i changed the dump was ONLY because i heard people saying it will do this and that to your car.

So i learnt my lesson and upgraded the FMIC and splitfires. I havent had it back on the dyno yet but my tuner reckons it should easily crack 190rwkw judging by the way it pulled.

So yeh all im saying is Yes, changing the dump will be beneficial, however the gains arent that much. If you had a bigger turbo, then yeh it will make a big diffy. I wish i had kept my stock dump. There are more benefits to upgrading to a fmic rather then a bigger dump pipe on the stock snail.

Hmm fair point, im going tomei but you know what sucks? the price has gone up for the gtr items; saw them a lil while ago for about 600ish now they are 1000 cos of the damn exchange rate. Hopefully there is some stock left in aus at a good price.

I have the JJR split dump on mine, great little piece of equipment. Only thing is the wastegate by pass pipe sits nearly on the water cooling line to the turbo due to it bending back toward the block where as the other travels directly down the back of the main pipe- not a biggie but something to consider.

Sounds mean too

Your measurements are abnormally low. This could be due to a variety of factors including the conditions on the dyno on the day.

Did you remap the ecu?

Do you have a high flow CAT?

If you examine the gas path in the factory cast unit you will see the restriction it is. You may also notice the over cast alignment of the flange if you compare it to the back of the turbo or sometimes even an old gasket. They are really crap. I may have a few lying around I can take some pics of to reassure you that the Tomei pipe you got is infact a great upgrade.

As for splitfires and a FMIC on a stock turbo I would regard these as much worse value for money given the stock coils in good nik are as good as you get and for most people the factory SMIC will not be a significant restriction on a stock turbo.

As for the China pipes (JJR etc);

* be very very certain that all the flanges are alligned and that the welds inside do not protrude into the gas path. If you just bolt it up without checking you will most likely gain anything or even go backwards in power and response and you may encounter boost issues.

* Of the 4 JJR pipes I have helped fit (one I bought myself but, never again), every one of them were poorly alligned and protuded into the gas path from the back of the turbo and required die grinding.

3 of them bolted straight on (the trap for the non vigilant) of which 1 required material to be taken out of the weld to allow a nut to fit onto the stud thread, the other pipe required cutting and rewelding in addition to the die grinding.

Hope that helps ;)

How are the nismo (n1) dumps? I know they are 60mm, and split, but little else. If you have them already, is

it really worth going tomei for the extra 10mm?

I had serious boost creep with the JJR split item, as did alot of other members.

BUT AFAIK they have put a thicker flange on to overcome the wastegate flap not opening properly?

But in saying that, i took to mine with a dremmel and got the flap opening fully and still spiked to 14-15psi on the stock turbo. So went back to stock dump into an HKS front.

What sort of power would the stock dump pipe really become a "restriction" on the stock turbo?
