Hi! i purchased my R34 skyline 25GT Auto for like a month now, and its hit 95,000kms.

Thought its time to do my 100,000kms Major Service

I live in Keilor, Melbourne. ( ON THE WEST SIDE )

Anyone know any good places that does good service and are trustworthy?

Is this list a good list of what to do for my major service?

Timing Belt Kit

  • 1 x Genuine Nissan Oil Filter
  • 1 x Genuine Nissan Timing Belt
  • 1 x Genuine Nissan Water Pump
  • 1 x Genuine Nissan Thermostat
  • 2 x Genuine Nissan Cam Seal
  • 1 x Genuine Nissan Crank Seal
  • 1 x Genuine Nissan Tensioner Bearing Spring
  • 1 x NSK/NTN Timing Belt Idler Bearing
  • 1 x NSK/NTN Timing Belt Tensioner Bearing

AUX Belts Kit

  • Water Pump/Alternator
  • Power Steering
  • Air-conditioning

Spark Plugs

  • 6x NGK Platinum, PFR6G

OILS/FILTERS

  • Engine Oil
  • Oil filter
  • Fuel filter
  • Gearbox oil
  • Diff Oil ( Not sure if needed! Don't know what it is) ;)
  • Transfer Case Oil ( Not sure if needed! Don't know what it is) :action-smiley-069:
  • Radiator Flush

Is that all good for a major service? the reason i'm doing all this is because the previous owner didn't have any history for services, therefore i want it all done for peace of mind.

i don't know how much this will all cost but the timing belt, aux belts and spark plugs already cost me around $700-$800

O.H Performance in Sunshine North charges $400 labour for anything worked in the engine, is that a good labour price?

Also is Kudos Motorsport parts a good price? or are there places cheaper? also are they trustworthy?

I'm a newbie to all this so please don't tease me :D i'm trying my best to learn stuff.

Any feedback will be appreciated!!!

Thanks for your time.

I'm in the west but still make the trip there to have all of my work done. ;)

Hi! i heard RE CUSTOMS are good but so far....

do they let you stay around and watch them? because how do i get home or go somewhere else without the car?

ALSO anyone heard of MAKSPEED located near Highpoint? are they any good? they been around for a while i heard.

I don't know if you'd be getting a 100k service done in a day...best bet is to call and discuss it with them...

ic ic...

Well anyone of you skyline fellows think my list of parts/stuff are good for my 100,000kms service?

i only been sourcing around and just gathered up a list. i'm not 100% certain if they are the parts/stuff i need for my major service.

Looks pretty good to me...Only I wouldn't waste my money on fancy spark plugs...Coppers will do just fine and will set you back about $20 for 6

THanks Dezz, you been a big help....

ive been down to C&D motorworks and they said they charge around $70 a hour for work....BUT how will i know how many hours he spent? they can just make it up right?

ill give Chasers Motorworks a try too, heard they do good jobs.

Any other information will be very thankful.

Sorry if i'm annoying some people out there, just that i'm a student that works hard for his money and don't want to get ripped off by a mechanic since i don't know much about cars.

100k services generally aren't cheap, as you'd know having already spent $700+ on parts alone...Having said that, all you'll really need now is the labour, so it shouldn't really cost too much...Only thing that might add up is the labour on changing the timing belt.

Best bet is to choose a workshop and get a quote for the specific work to be done...Once you've got a quote you'll know roughly what to expect, and the final bill should be around the quoted price, unless something unexpected comes up.

Yea, i guess your right. Well i havent bought the parts yet, i don't want to transfer like $800 to some online store. Maybe if i pay by credit card it will be safer.

Dezz!!! have you bought parts from Kudos Motorsports? or has anyone?

Yes I Have. Andrew is trustworthy, and you shouldn't have any problems.

Here's his feedback thread - http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/Cu...ck-t103442.html

Might be worth contacting him before you transfer anything just to double check what he has in stock etc...

i hear alot of good things about RE customs and i was going ot take my car there but it was to far away.

im not saying dont go to RE customs im just suggesting another good place to maybe consider as they are closer.

they are EAS performance located in airport west tullamarine ph:93302001 . ive taken my car there a few times and they are fantastic, my mate takes his car there too. and so does AL, which is a member hear, he was the one that told me about them when i was looking for a place.

so thats just another place for you to think about.

RE Customs as what everyone has said.

Or if its close for you and not needing to drive all the way out to Springvale I go to Le Mans Automotive in Templestowe and speak to Shane.

He did all the work on my diff, turbos, gearbox, general maintanace and service.

He is trustworthy and knows what he is doing.

If your car is all stock - the nissan dealership can help (however I'm not sure if all of them do imports). I remember them quoting around $300 for the timing belt change alone.

With all the stuff you want done your car will be in the shop for 2 days maybe even longer if the workshop is busy. (regardles of the place you send it).

I personally find if you get the mechanic to do too much work they tend to cut corners.

Here are my tips to.

Timing Belt Kit

* 1 x Genuine Nissan Oil Filter - Change

* 1 x Genuine Nissan Timing Belt - Change

* 1 x Genuine Nissan Water Pump - I'd hold this off

* 1 x Genuine Nissan Thermostat - Change

* 2 x Genuine Nissan Cam Seal - If its not leaking - hold off

* 1 x Genuine Nissan Crank Seal - If its not leaking - hold off

* 1 x Genuine Nissan Tensioner Bearing Spring - Change

* 1 x NSK/NTN Timing Belt Idler Bearing - Change

* 1 x NSK/NTN Timing Belt Tensioner Bearing - Change

AUX Belts Kit

* Water Pump/Alternator - Change

* Power Steering - Change

* Air-conditioning - Change

Spark Plugs

* 6x NGK Platinum, PFR6G - Change

+ change you coilpacks with splitfires as the stock coils tend to start giving issues after 100k

OILS/FILTERS

* Engine Oil - change - recommend Castrol GTX3 for 2 months to flush the engine then change over to a more premium oil of your choice.

* Oil filter - change

* Fuel filter - hold off

* Gearbox oil - hold off - Castrol Transmax Z seems to be the choice for most people.

* Diff Oil ( Not sure if needed! Don't know what it is) blush.gif - hold off

* Transfer Case Oil ( Not sure if needed! Don't know what it is) blush.gif

- Only if your car is an AWD you will need this changed

* Radiator Flush - Highly recommended (recommend Castrol radicool) + change your hoses too.

RE Customs as what everyone has said.

WOW! iseekool thanks alot, thats really helpful. maybe ill buy those oils to and provide them to whoever i take the car too.

CHEERS THAT'S GREAT INFO.

Also i forgot to mention, when i change gears in my auto the car seems to move or shake forward or backwards a little.

IS DAT A SIGN OF MY GEARBOX SCREWING UP? or just needs new oil? My uncle mentioned something about getting my gearbox flushed and add new oil... is that suppose to make it better?

i hear alot of good things about RE customs and i was going ot take my car there but it was to far away.

EAS performance located in airport west tullamarine

Thanks mate, will check it out too.

i got told from RE customs for my stagea (same engine) around $1400 parts and labour., thats including oil's and the stuff you listed.

but yeah give atleast 2days,

with a normal service normally one guy can get it done in a couple of hours , but major service, wouldnt hang around for it unless you have a tent.

i've already started buying my stuff for it

1 x Timing Belt

2 x Cam Seal

1 x Crank Seal

1 x Tensioner Bearing Spring

1 x Timing Belt Idler Bearing

1 x Timing Belt Tensioner Bearing

got the kit off justjap.com

P.S Westal station is just down the road, can train it back home ... ?

Went to Jap Warehouse also known as DGEN at tullamarine today.

David seem like a good guy, the parts above i wanted done came around to $1370 exclude the water pump, thermostat, tensioner bearing spring.

Price is as follows:

Major Service $280

Cam Belt $650

Cam Seal $120

Gearbox Service $80

Diff Oil $60

Radiator Flush $60

Aux Belts $120

but the timing belt is now GATES........

he said its a performance type, is GATES timing belt any good?

And what about pricing? any good?

I still have to check out EAS, Chasers and maybe RE Customs if i have time.
