wasnt too hard, cant remember if we even needed to use a baby elephant or not, ive seen people go much bigger stretch, but i dont really like running anything smaller than 215.

What brand of 275's are you considering? If they are bargain basement specials, like Nankang or similar, they're probably not quite as wide as name brand 275's anyway.

The current HSV R8 has 275/35/19's on a 9.5 wide rim and they sit with a slight bit of stretch, so 275/xx/18 on a 9 will most likely sit pretty much dead square.

the tread is the same width, its usually the sidewalls which give the illusion if it being wider, they have thicker sidewalls and hence sit more square and look wider.
