Has anyone here carried out a GTS4 auto conversion to GTR.

I am looking at going drag racing this year and am sick of the broken gearboxes that cost an arm an a leg to replace.

1 Is the GTS4 a strong enough box or does anyone know of one that adapts and keeps the 4WD system.

2 Where can i buy the setup IE gearbox loom and ecu

and lastly any problems i might encounter

im keen to know this to as i want an auto in my everyday gtr, its all to hard in peak hour traffic but i dont have it in me to get rid of my gtr so this is the only option,

i would assume the auto has to be "strengthend" but finding and getting someone to do it at the right price will be the hard part,

Sports cars don't have auto transmissions. /rant

If you can't drive a manual in peak hour, then you shouldn't be driving a manual. If Nissan thought the GT-R needed an auto, then I'm sure they would have made it an option.

I would think that if your RB26DETT is trashing transmissions (manual), you will be lucky to make the first 60 feet with a GTS4 auto - it was, after all, only designed to handle a 160kW RB20DET. If you MUST have an auto, I would reckon the box from a Stagea might have the innards to handle a bit of grunt.

Was talking about this the other night with a mate who has a Stag, he was telling me about the manual conversion for stags and from the sounds of that it should be pretty easy to bolt the stag box into a gtr, as mentioned though, need to figure out how to control it.. or get it built and manualised and not worry about ignition cut on shifts :)

I know that Al's Race Glides and MV autos can build Jatco boxes to handle some power....(will run 10's), but not too sure if they have done the Stagea boxes.

Yes, will definitely have to get rid of the electronics and manualise it etc in order for it to handle the huge increase in power.

The GTR box would be stronger than the auto box. So if u are breaking GTR boxes, chances are the auto box wont hold up. You could get someone like MV automatics to strengthen the auto.

Someone on these forums bought the HPI 33 4door with an auto rb26. Think its running 11's. But thats running a strengthened box. Do a search
