How To: Bosch 040 Fuel Pump In R33 Skyline Si / Sii

Sorry to resurrect an old thread, can i get some help plz....

I have got my new bosch 040 ready to go in.

I have bought fuel resistant hose and clamps.

I went to supercheap and they didnt have chemical resistant wire... where can i get some?

Could i just use the stock fuel pump wire and solder on terminals at the end?

I used this how to as a guide and I just thought I might throw up a pic of the mounting job I did on my Bosch 044.

Had to pull it out once to readjust it cause it was making strange intermittent sucky noises which I could really only hear at idle when it was hot (afternoon). Cavitation ???

I tried to get the sock sitting at just the same height and angle as the stock pumps was.

It's only been a couple of days since, but I haven't heard the sound again... yet.

Seems very quiet in general, priming sounds tough. :thumbsup:

Hi Guys, I have a R33 GTR that I suspect has a dud fuel pump, I hve read the info here but I has going to check for voltage at the pump before I start to pull everything apart.

There is power at the fuel pump fuse, which conector is for the pump, the brown or the gray, I'm guessing the brown as it has only two connectors. Should there be power there when the ignition is turned to on or is it more complicated than that

I haven`t read the replies about all the fuel pump installations but why not save yourselves some drama and leave the standard pump where it is and buy an external one Attach it to the underside of the car or in the boot inline with the fuel lines somewhere,that way the standard pump acts as a lift pump and the new external does what its supposed to do!.That way you don`t have to get messy in the tank!.

Could anyone be of some assistance?, I've searched but have not come up with anything concrete.

I recently changed out my fuel pump to a Bosch. When I turn the ignition on I can here it pumping, the car cranks but does not want to turn over.

I've pulled the hose off the filter and there is plenty of flow, not sure where to look next? possibly the AFM?.

any help is greatly appreciated.

Are you sure you got the feed and return around the right way?

And I assume you mean the car cranks but doesn't want to run. The engine turns over when when the starter spins it?

Hey all,

When putting it back together, where does the rubber ring around the top housing go? Does it sit sort of in the tank or on the outside? I hope you know what I mean

just read all the replies,

imma bout to tackle the fuel pump change to a walbro 460 LPH. the thing is i think there is an 040 or nismo intank ...

thinking of just putting the new one external (external version of the walbro E85) and use it as a lift pump.

but for peace of mind i would rather change it but dont really wanna go through all the hassles tho.

but in saying that my fuel gauge works but not getting the warning light on low fuel?

cant be the low fuel sender kaput? coz the gauge still works but not the fuel light

already replaced the fuel light bulb and still nada.

any thoughts?
