hey guys so im bout to get new insurance (third party fire and theft) with my car

currently own a 32gtst, stock hardly anymods on it cept for turbo timer, airflow controller, pod and cannon

anyway i did the lil online free quote thing on justcars' website and im thinkin of goin with em

everyone was looking pretty sweet untill the final agreement part, they said they dont cover anything that isnt registered to them or rwc

also the grand total was pretty much double their free quote price, must be a marketing thing

had a premimum amount + the fire and theft ? wats the go.

but im 19, dodgy import theyre pretty much my only option

but anyone else with them? do u have to tell them or register any new modification u do to ur car? so ur fees would go up all the time??

please help fellas

cheers

At 19 ,mate, you really don't have a lot of options...

If Justcar give you a half decent quote, go with them.....

Personally I am with Shannon's and they have been fantastic... But they wont insure you at 19 :)

famous classic car insurance used to give me good quotes so i went with them - unlimited mods

If rwc is an issue jsut go and get one from an import mechanic. cost me $75.

But yeah - not much choice at 19 :)

It's not uncommon for insurance companies to require that you list your mods with them and that the car be roadworthy, it's pretty standard practice.

Even if you're allowed unlimited legal mods, they might affect the amount they need to pay out in the event of a claim (and hence your premium) - yeah yeah, insurance company trying to bleed you for more money and all that... but you'd be pissed if you've poured big $$ into your car and they replace it all with stock parts, assuming they don't void your policy altogether for not disclosing the mods in the first place.

Also, if you have an Agreed Value policy, trying to tell them your R32 is worth $25k (for example) is pretty hard to swallow if they look at the piece of paper and see a rock stock GTSt :D

Just Car = Win (generally with price and paying out my last car that was stolen)

Their assessors = LOSE for all but accusing me of the theft (even when the car was recovered at the thiefs house) and for dragging out the payment for 3 months!!!!!!!!

My advice anything dodgy they start doing, contact the head of AAMI, he sorted my problem out in seconds, his details are available from the insurance ombudsman in times of crisis :D

Its good to know that if you are having a problem that the guy at the top will turn around and kick someone up the ass if they are screwing you around.

Im with just car. Have had a few cars insured with them and never had an problems though never had to make a claim.

Their prices are generally pretty good.

I use them, only because Shannons won't touch me (unless your car lives in 4 walls and a roller door, they don't want to know about you). I have found them to be pretty decent: I have had one at-fault claim (rear windscreen was smashed by some lowlife), and they were fine until I had to claim subsequent, related damage (the new window took 4 months to arrive, so I'd taped plastic over the opening: when it came time to fit new glass, the tape I used had bonded to the paint, so pulled some big chunks of paint off the car. I had to to really push them to cover this secondary claim (threatened to take my 4 cars elsewhere), but they came good in the end.

The only other complaint I have with them is their "agreed" value that isn't what I agreed to, and drops by around 15%-20% every year, until I call up and have to negotiate for 1/2 hour to get it raised again.

At the end of the day, all insurance companies are pirates, but you could do worse than Just Car...

Ive got both my car and my girlfriends imported MX5 insured with JCIA. They have given me a good agreed value (23.5) and gave my gf a reasonable one as well (10k).

Ive never had a problem where ive had to claim with them, but Stephs had a few at-fault accidents (she likes to give cars in front of her a affectionate nudge every now and then) and they have been pretty prompt with repairs and payment, and have followed up when we found runs in the paint etc fairly well.

Im yet to see the difference in how an assessor deals with claims from a 60 kg 5 foot 9 chicks car and a 21 (soon to be 22) year old's GTR however hopefully I shall never find out.

Try NRMA I had my skyline insured with them and they look after the customer. under 25 years old and i was paying 118 a month for it and they would only do market value on it.

NRMA wont touch anyone under 30 who drive a "performance vehicle", I'm 29 and have been with them since I had my license and as soon as I mentioned that I wanted to change over my insurance to my skyline they said "sorry we don't insurce drivers uner 30 who drive those cars.

I'm with just car insurance now and as someone previously said that as soon as a mod is added to the insurance the preminum will jump up. the car was slightly modded when I bought it so the premium was high, but when put a strut brace and aftermarket radiator in and it my insurance went up $120 a year.

Luckely I have spoken to NRMA and haven't lost my no claim bonus because I will be switching back over to them as soon as I turn 30, so I guess there is some good :P (won't be getting screwed by JustCar anymore.)

i dont know why nrma wouldnt cover your skyline. i was with them when i had my old car and when i bought the skyline they were going to cover me but it was about $1600pa where as just car is $975pa. the only reason i changed to just car was the $600 price difference. and im only 27.

I've been with just car for about 4yrs now. I've had 1 at fault claim in my first year and had no problems with them paying for repairs.

I've looked around for a comparison quote (renewing in feb) and just car still beats them all. Only thing that sucks is the excesses (esp. the car excess)!

My latest quote is $750 for comprehensive and I'm only 24 for a stock 33.

NRMA will insur skylines now but u have to be over 25yrs or older. Same goes for shannons.

Famous insurance have caps on how many 'traffic infridgements' you can have.... :(

RACQ are wankers and their price usually comes in over double Just cars and their excesses are also higher. Roadside assistant division is ok though :(

I'd say for your age, Just car will always come in best (and accept your car).

Good Luck

Yeah i have no idea why, it's not like I have ever had any claims put against me (still got a no claim bonus which I have had since 1997. maybe just spoke to the wrong person  I did however say that I thought they insured people over 25 for these types of cars, but they said if it's an imported performance vehicle then they wont unless your over 30 now.

i payed 1200 a year full comp when i was 19

that even covered 8 grand worth of paint :D

but i was told it matters where you live. if you live in a suburb where there are shit all claims made to justcars for theft or break in's then this would make your quote cheaper due to less risk of making a claim

my mate had a 180 with similar mods and his cost 1800 a year cos he lives in marsden LOL

i live in mt cotton. i dont think there has been a car stolen in my estate since ol jack barrel stole clint eastwoods horses.

this is what i was driving when i first went with just cars when i was 19yrs old

just car insurance suck at repairing cars wouldnt go with them any more well thats my honest opinion when my skyline got hit up the rear they quoted all new parts as in second hand parts to replace damaged parts well the panel shop used all my damaged parts n dodgey every thing up like my rear bar bashed it out with a rubber mallet and body fillered the bar up and painted it n the body filler showed through n i told just cars they ssaid dont worry thats how its gonna stay wether u like it or not gee they r dodgy for the repair side of it especially if they agree on a bad finish of your pride n joy
