hey guys,

i think ive found my a/c fault thanks to finding some dodgy wiring to skip around the problem.. theres a fault in the wire that goes from the a/c relay to the a/c amplifier... whoever diagnosed it first thought it was just an earth wire and grounded it, but i think theres more to it..

so where is this a/c amplifier?? is it near the ecu or in the engine bay somewhere??

cheers

Linton

the amplifier usually refers to the fan resistor (although not a resistor with climate control, it is a transistor!) it will be in the ducting under passenger side dash.

look at guilt toys thread for more info.

if this plays up you usually loose all fan speeds but max (on most cars, as max goes straight through the relay)

its probably dry earth inside the actuator itself. its a notorious problem for r32's...

to get to it, you'll need to remove the entire centre console, unscrew the unit, and unhook the lever arm.

then disassemble the unit, reflow the solder and refit the unit. did it myself 3 months ago and it fixed the aircon completely...

there is a guide on here but im lazy, im sure you'll find it
