SwannyR33
It's only been a few months since I bought an R33 GTS25T (apparently for the wife?) but today I'm pissed off! Two months ago, my son broke his little finger (it was 45 degrees out of alignment!), so I took him to the doctor's, took the nearest parking spot, as I wanted to get him fixed up, but after an hour or so, came out to the Skyline, and found a note saying "Sorry I hit your car..." Anyway... I got a nasty gouge fixed due to someone leaving a note... about $800 repair bill. Today, i went to the local Bunnings, parked in the far aisle, and got back to the car to find a paint smear on the right rear giuard... I polished it out, but there's a crease in the guard! It looks like it was the left hand rear door of a white 4x4 It's not a big dent, but it's an imperfection that I didn't want, and will cost me about $800 to repair. How the hell can you avoid these injuries???? Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/253464-carpark-injuries/ Share on other sites

SwannyR33
Buy a cheap daily failing that only park at an end spot as far over as possible! I am buying a cheap daily... well, almost. In the next few weeks I'll also have a Ford Sierra XR4ti, which has a bigger boot space! I did park a fair way away from the entrance, which did make me more pissed off! hojak
Buy a cheap daily failing that only park at an end spot as far over as possible! That never works! No matter how far away from an entrance in any car park you park, you could be the only car in a lot of 500 parks, guarantee you when you get back, there's a big dirty fourby parked 2 inches from you. haha. Also second the idea of having a daily shitbox. Saves me alot of grief. MountainRunner
Yea thats right, some tool always feels they have to park 2 inches from your car. I have also gone to the daily driver which now has heaps of little dings and scratches from the carpark. Mushroom
thats why I love the $450 leone, not for the lack of performance, ugly looks or crap handling but for the fact that i can park it almost anywhere and not have to worry. So true, I parked down the Gold Coast in an empty carpark except for the R34 a space over from me....come out later and some twat in an old dented XW Falcon has wedged between us, there were literally 300 other spaces :S Another one was at the airport, some tard pulling in next to me was taking forever clearing trolleys away etc etc so they could keep their white Tarago in pristine condition. I come back 5 mins later, no Tarago and a massive "white" gouge on the top half of my door just about where a Taragos door would rest. BASTARDS!!! babyskyline
Have been hit many times by 4x4 and i always try to park as far away from the entrance too but i always take a quick pick of my car and the car beside it with thte number plate so that if there is a mark or ding and no note then i can call up the cops and get something sorted out. Has worked a few times now and have gotten my money back off of the creeps who thought they could get away with it. WOW.. i'm really surprised that the cops actually did something about it.. usually they take a report and file it away, never to be taken out again.. Honestly when it comes to real crimes.. they are useless Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/253464-carpark-injuries/#findComment-4381110 Share on other sites
Haines
you are probably trying too hard not to get any damage on your car its not the best approach i have found I now just park where ever (beside trolley bays , next to entrances etc) sure ill come out one day and there will be damage on it but it is a fun game of russian roulette Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/253464-carpark-injuries/#findComment-4381238 Share on other sites
000DNK
I only park my car in one car park which is underground, myself and another chick who drives a brand new lancer made a deal to park in the same spot every day which is 2 car parks that are separated from the rest of the car spots by a wall in between. and seeming we get there at 7 and don't leave till 6 we have never got any damage out of it. otherwise best choice is take a cheap daily or hitch a lift Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/253464-carpark-injuries/#findComment-4381604 Share on other sites

Just out of curiosity how much are you expecting to pay for one of these ? As there isnt that many of them here in OZ I was lucky to find one hidden in a shed. It's been there for over 10 years now, without being driven, and has less than 50k on the clock. I've convinced the guy who's been hoarding it to part with it (less than 10g). I know I've got a bit of work to do to get it back on the road, with replacing seals/rubbers/oils etc, but it'll be fun. grigor
I don't think you can avoid the dings these days as the average car owner just doesn't give a toss. Have a good look at EVERY car at the shops. You'll see far more expensive vehicles than the average Skyline, with multiple dings along the bodywork. Doesn't matter if you drive a complete dunger, some lazy prick will still crash their door onto you, or just drive over you. My old jigger had the left rear door bashed in so far you couldn't open the window. Big 4WD tyre marks on the paint. Another time it scored the right front and bumper, same big black tyre marks. If the 4WD's don't get you the shopping trolleys will. I believe 4WD owners need light truck licencing as most of them have absolutely no idea where their corners are.
