Hi guys i cant what i am after in the search..... so id ask here

can we swap the bulbs of our stock HIDs for brighter / whiter HID lights?

i ask because i recently fitted xenon white LED Clearance lights to the front of the car and they are much whiter / brighter than the standard HIDs and it looks a bit silly having a white light and a kinda dull white light.

anyone know what brightness i would need for a xenon "white" light and where i can get one from if i can replace them?

That depends what you mean by brighter/whiter.

The colour of the light is measured by temperature, which is what you see advertised (4300k, 6000k, 8000k etc) The lower numbers are more yellow and the higher numbers are more blue. I think 6000k is supposed to be closest to white, and 8000k has a slight blue tinge.

The power consumption of the light is measured in watts (35watts, 50watts etc).

A colour change is okay because all that is different is the gases/metals used inside the bulb.

If you have 35W bulbs you can't change to more powerful 50W bulbs without replacing the ignitors.

Providing you purchase bulbs that fit the headlamp casing and have the same power rating as your current bulbs then I can't see a reason why you wouldn't be able to change the colour.

More whiter does not mean more bright even on human eyes it may looks "brighter".

The brighter is measure by lumen, in my memory the 4300k is the brightest across the range, 6000k is a little bit lower in lumen(cross the same brand),but consider it is more whiter, so it looks more birght, it get a very good balance between lumen and temperture, that is why most is people go for it.

Phillip oem d2r 4300k have 3200 lumen

Phillip oem d2r 6000k have 2400 lumen.

I dont trust other small brank who claim their 6000k have 4200 lumen like this: http://www.omegaxenon.com/index.html

i have 50w 6000k HIDs in my M35 (had to retro fit due to compliance) and being 6000k they are very white, i agree they arent as 'bright' as 4300k.

mark i rekon you got 6000k in the kit you just installed, but your factory ones i rekon are 4300k.

just go on ebay and buy a new pair of burners (they arent globes - they dont have a filament) 35w 6000k and they will probably match. i think around $40 for some cheap ass china ones.
